I See The Rain
"I See the Rain" is a 1967 song recorded by The Marmalade, written by lead guitarist William Junior Campbell and vocalist Dean Ford (born Thomas McAleese). This was the band's third CBS Records release, following their 1966 name change from Dean Ford and the Gaylords and change of label from Columbia (EMI) to CBS, and was one year before their first successful UK release " Lovin' Things". The self-penned recording was praised by Jimi Hendrix as the "best cut of 1967." The recording became a chart-topper in the Netherlands that same year. Graham Nash of The Hollies, contributed to the session, but it did not chart in the UK, although the track, with its distinct mid-1960s psychedelic feel, has since attained a cult following and has been covered by artists such as Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles and Matthew Sweet (see '' Under the Covers, Vol. 1''). The Marmalade
Marmalade are a Scottish pop rock band originating from the east end of Glasgow, originally formed in 1961 as The Gaylords, and then later billed as Dean Ford and the Gaylords, recording four singles for Columbia Graphophone Company, Columbia (EMI). In 1966 they changed the band's name to The Marmalade and were credited as such on all of their subsequent recorded releases with CBS Records International, CBS Records and Decca Records until 1972. Their greatest chart success was between 1968 and 1972, placing ten songs on the UK Singles Chart, and many overseas territories, including international hits "Reflections of My Life", which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Chart and No. 3 on the UK chart in January 1970, and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", which topped the UK chart in January 1969, the group becoming the first-ever Scottish artist to top that chart. Susanna Lee Hoffs (born January 17, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actress. With Debbi Peterson and Vicki Peterson, she founded the Bangles in 1981. Their debut album, ''All Over the Place (The Bangles album), All Over the Place'' (1984), was acclaimed by critics but sold poorly. Their second album, ''Different Light'' (1986), was also warmly received by critics and was certified Music recording certification#Certification thresholds, double-platinum in 1987 and triple-platinum in 1994. Marmalade (from the Portuguese ''marmelada'') is a fruit preserve made from the juice and peel of citrus fruits boiled with sugar and water. The well-known version is made from bitter orange. It also has been made from lemons, limes, grapefruits, mandarins, sweet oranges, bergamots, blood oranges, clementines, kumquats, or a combination. Citrus is the most typical choice of fruit for marmalade, though historically the term has often been used for non-citrus preserves. One popular citrus fruit used in marmalade production is the bitter orange, ''Citrus aurantium'' var. ''aurantium'', prized for its high pectin content, which gives a thick consistency to the marmalade. The peel of the orange imparts a bitter taste.
