The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. William Dandjinou
William Dandjinou (born October 1, 2001) is a Canadian short-track speed skater. Career Dandjinou was a reserve for the Canadian team at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Dandjinou began the 2023-2024 season with a victory at the Canadian Championships. As part of the 2023–24 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup, Dandjinou won multiple medals across various legs of the competition. At the 2024 Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Laval, Quebec, Dandjinou won the gold medal in the 1000 metres event and was part of the bronze medal winning 5000 metres relay team. Steven Dubois (; born May 1, 1997) is a Canadian short-track speed skater. Career Junior At the 2016 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Sofia. Bulgaria, Dubois won the bronze medal in the 500 m event. Senior Dubois joined Canada's World Cup team for the first time in 2017 and was a reserve for the 2018 Winter Olympics. His first full season as part of the World Cup team was in the 2018–19 season, winning bronze in three of the World Cup stops in the 1500 m event. The following season, Dubois would win his first individual World Cup race, the 500 m event in Dresden, among a silver and two bronze individual (versus team) medals he won at other stops during the season. Kristen Santos-Griswold (born November 2, 1994) is an American short-track speed skater. Biography Santos started figure skating at the age of three and became interested in short-track speed skating when she saw a television commercial featuring Dutch short-track speed skater Wilma Boomstra, who later became her coach. She started the sport at the age of nine in her hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut. After high school, she moved to Salt Lake City to combine her sport with a degree in kinesiology at the University of Utah. Santos entered her first professional competition in 2013 and entered the US Olympic qualifying tournament in early 2014 but failed to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia. Hanne Desmet (born 26 October 1996) is a Belgian short track speed skater. Biography Desmet was born in Wilrijk, lives in Mechelen, and is the older sister of short track speed skater Stijn Desmet. When Stijn was scouted by Pieter Gysel, Desmet started short track speed herself. Desmet is a three-time Belgian all-round champion, and in 2018, she became this by winning all individual distances. Moreover, she holds the Belgian records for all distances. At the 2019 European Championships, she took second place in the unofficial 3000m distance.
