"I'd Die to Be with You Tonight" is a song by Australian Rock music, rock musician, Jimmy Barnes. Released in August 1985 as the lead single from his second studio album, ''For the Working Class Man''. The song peaked at number seven on the Australian Kent Music Report, becoming Barnes' first solo top ten single. Kim Carnes participates in the song on the harmony vocals. The song was written by Chas Sandford. In his autobiography, Barnes claimed that Sandford was initially unwilling to part with the song, saying that he had already declined to give it to Don Henley because he was saving it for a solo album. The music video was filmed on the Pyrmont Bridge in 1985, before the Darling Harbour redevelopments. James Dixon Barnes ( Swan; born 28 April 1956) is an Australian rock singer. His career, both as a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the rock band Cold Chisel, has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time. By 2022 he had achieved 15 solo number-one albums in Australia, more than any other artist. He has won many awards, and been nominated for many more. In 2005 he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as a solo artist, after also having been an inductee in 1992 as a member of Cold Chisel. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. A limited edition of the single featuring the first live recording of the Jimmy Barnes band with the band's performance of " Resurrection Shuffle" (Recorded in December 1984) as the b-side of side two as well as a poster pack sold for 2.99 dollars. Kim Carnes (; born July 20, 1945) is an American singer and songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles. A veteran writer of many of her own hits, as well as those for numerous other artists, she began her career in 1966 as a member of folk group the New Christy Minstrels, before embarking on a solo career as a songwriter and performer in the early 1970s, playing in local clubs. The Pyrmont Bridge, a heritage-listed swing bridge across Cockle Bay, is located in Darling Harbour, part of Port Jackson, west of the central business district in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia.
