Hypotrachyna Osseoalba
''Hypotrachyna osseoalba'', commonly known as the grainy loop lichen, is a species of foliose lichen in the family Parmeliaceae. It is widely distributed in subtropical and temperate areas of the world. Characteristic features of the lichen include the pustules in its cortex (botany), cortex, the somewhat linear shape of the lobes comprising the thallus, and the branched rhizines (holdfasts on the thallus underside). Taxonomy It was first species description, scientifically described by Finnish lichenologist Edvard Vainio in 1921, as ''Parmelia osseoalba''. Yun Sil Park and Mason Hale transferred it to the genus ''Hypotrachyna'' in 1989. The taxon ''Parmelia formosana'', described by Alexander Zahlbruckner in 1934, later became ''Hypotrachyna formosana'' after Hale transferred it to ''Hypotrachyna'' in 1975. When Hale was later working on a monograph of genus ''Xanthoparmelia'', he studied the type (biology), type material of Vainio's ''Parmelia osseoalba'', and determined that ...

Hypotrachyna Brueggeri
''Hypotrachyna brueggeri'' is a species of foliose lichen in the family Parmeliaceae. Described as a new species in 2002, it is known only from the type locality in southeastern Brazil, where it was collected at elevations of . This lichen forms sprawling rosettes 10–15 cm across with broad, overlapping and is distinguished by distinctive branched that give its surface a rough texture. It grows on both tree bark and granite rocks in the moist montane forests of the Mantiqueira and Serra do Mar mountain systems, where persistent fog provides the humid conditions it requires. Taxonomy ''Hypotrachyna brueggeri'' was introduced to science in 2002 by C.H. Ribeiro and M.P. Marcelli during their systematic survey of parmelioid lichens in south-eastern Brazil. The type specimen was collected in montane Atlantic Forest at Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca (Minas Gerais) from the trunk of a candeia (''Eremanthus erythropappus'') in a well-lit patch of forest on 19 March 1994. Hypotrachyna Aspera
''Hypotrachyna aspera'' is a species of foliose lichen in the family Parmeliaceae. It occurs in the mountains of Minas Gerais and Paraná, where it grows on tree bark in humid forests at an elevation of about . This small lichen forms loose, ragged rosettes 4–6 cm across with very narrow that give it a finely frilled appearance, and it reproduces through blister-like that burst to release powdery soredia. Taxonomy ''Hypotrachyna aspera'' was formally described in 2002 by Célio H. Ribeiro and Marcelo Marcelli during their survey of the mountainous Atlantic Forest–cerrado mosaic in south-eastern Brazil. The authors placed it in the large parmelioid family Parmeliaceae, within the genus ''Hypotrachyna''—a group characterised by foliose (leaf-like) thalli with a black lower and diverse secondary metabolites. The type specimen was collected on quartzitic rock at the margin of the Tanque Grande reservoir in the Serra do Caraça, Minas Gerais, about 1100 m elevat ...
