Hull's 107FM
Hull's 107FM is a community radio station broadcasting to Kingston upon Hull, England. History The station launched in 2015 as Hull Kingston Radio broadcasting from the West Stand of Craven Park rugby stadium. It was founded by Pete Mills and he modeled the station after the former local station KCFM before its takeover by Lincs FM Group. It was not, however, connected to the Hull Kingston Rovers club. In 2017, the station moved to a larger premises on Preston Road. It moved again in 2021 to new studios at One Business Village, Emily Street. It relaunched as Hull's 107FM on 8 August 2022. In the United Kingdom, community radio refers to a system of licensing small, micro-local, non-profit radio stations, which started in 2002. In its early days, the pilot scheme was known as access radio. New legislation paved the way for this additional tier of radio, starting in 2005, and hundreds of community stations have since been set up. Craven Park (currently known as the Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby league stadium located in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is the home of Hull Kingston Rovers, one of two professional rugby league teams based in the city. History Hull Kingston Rovers moved to the new ground in 1989 from the Old Craven Park which was sited on Holderness Road. The new stadium was the first in Rugby League to offer hospitality boxes. The stadium was also the home to the Hull Vikings speedway team from 1995 to 2005, but they left when the ground was refurbished for Hull Kingston Rovers to use in the Super League. The Lincs FM Group was the parent company of several Independent Local Radio (ILR) stations. As of Q2 2019 the group had a combined audience of 524,000. It was based in Lincolnshire, in the UK. David Burns (or Burnsy) (born 26 April 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a British radio presenter working for the BBC. He is best known for his sports commentary, analysis and discussion on BBC Radio Humberside. Biography Up until June 2023, he was the presenter of the mid-morning programme at BBC Radio Humberside. He also commentated on Hull City games, where he is affectionately known as Burnsy. His co-presenters on air were Gwilym Lloyd, Matt Dean and Mike White.
