Hudson Street Hooligans
The Hudson Street Hooligans (HSH) are an independent supporters group for Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. They are named for Hudson Street, which runs adjacent to Historic Crew Stadium in Old North Columbus. History In 1996, half brothers Grant Thurmond and Cord Andrews and their friend Drew Abdalla were children when they watched Major League Soccer team Columbus Crew SC's first season. When the three men entered Ohio State University, they continued walking down Hudson Street to reach the stadium. Their enthusiasm for the team had not waned despite the soccer team's unexceptional performance which dissuaded people from attending their games. In 2006, to reinvigorate Columbus Crew SC's fan base, Thurmond, Andrews, and Abdalla formed the independent supporters' group Hudson Street Hooligans. Columbus Crew
The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. ''Columbus Alive'' (also presented as ''ALIVE''), was a free online news site serving Columbus, Ohio. The site focused on local music, art, dining, film and culture. Formerly distributed in print form each week on Thursdays, the final print version of the alternative-weekly newspaper was published on July 3, 2019. The publication was acquired by ''The Columbus Dispatch'' in the first half of 2006 and the circulation at that time was approximately 55,000. In 2015, the ''Dispatch'' was acquired by New Media Investment Group, which later became Gannett. Circulation had fallen to 32,000 copies by 2019, which according to editor Andy Downing made the newspaper "no longer sustainable" in print form.
