Huberantha Rumphii
''Huberantha rumphii'' is a species of plant in the family Annonaceae. It is native to Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, and The Solomon Islands. August Wilhelm Henschel the German physician and botanist who first formally described the species, using the basionym ''Guatteria rumphii'', named it after the German botanist Georg Eberhard Rumphius who cataloged many plant species in Indonesia. Description It is a tree reaching 15 meters in height. Its young branches are covered in fine rust colored hairs but become hairless when mature. Its hairless, slightly leathery, oblong to lance-shaped leaves are 10-22 by 3.5-7.5 centimeters with pointed tips and bases. The leaves have 9-12 pairs of secondary veins emanating from their midribs. Its flowers occur on solitary, 1-2 centimeter-long pedicels in axillary positions. Charles Ludwig de Blume or Karl Ludwig von Blume (9 June 1796, Braunschweig – 3 February 1862, Leiden) was a Germany, German-Netherlands, Dutch botanist. He was born at Braunschweig in Germany, but studied at Leiden University and spent his professional life working in the Dutch East Indies and in the Netherlands, where he was Director of the Rijksherbarium (state herbarium) at Leiden. Georg Eberhard Rumphius (originally: Rumpf; baptized c. 1 November 1627 – 15 June 1702) was a Germans, German-born botanist employed by the Dutch East India Company in what is now eastern Indonesia, and is best known for his work ''Herbarium Amboinense'' produced in the face of severe personal tragedies, including the death of his wife and a daughter in an earthquake, going blind from glaucoma, loss of his library and manuscripts in major fire, and losing early copies of his book when the ship carrying it was sunk. ''Huberantha'' is a genus of plants in the family Annonaceae and tribe Miliuseae. It is distributed in Australia, tropical Asia, East Africa and some Pacific islands. Tanawat Chaowasku named the genus "Huber's flowers" in honor of the German botanist Herbert Huber and to highlight its flowers as a distinguishing feature of the genus. August Wilhelm Eduard Theodor Henschel ( Breslau, 20 December 1790 - Breslau, 24 July 1856) was a German physician and botanist, best known through his works on history of medicine and about Schola Medica Salernitana. Biography Education He was educated at the medical and surgical college at Breslau, the '' Ober-Collegium medicum'' in Berlin, and the universities of Heidelberg and Breslau (''Medicinae Doctor'' in 1813).
