Hospital General is a metro station along Mexico City Metro Line 3, Line 3 of the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. General information This station transfers to the "S" trolleybus line, which runs between ISSSTE Zaragoza and Chapultepec metro station, Chapultepec. Hospital General serves passengers in the Colonias (neighborhoods) of Colonia Doctores, Doctores and Colonia Roma, Roma. The station opened on 20 November 1970 when it served as the southern terminus of Line 3. Service southward towards Metro Centro Médico, Centro Médico started 10 years later on 7 June 1980. Chapultepec Metro Station
Chapultepec is a station on the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the Cuauhtémoc borough in the center of Mexico City. In 2019, the station had an average ridership of 57,873 passengers per day, making it the 14th busiest station in the network. From November 2023 to April 2025, the station remained closed for modernization work on the tunnel and the line's technical equipment. General information The station logo depicts a grasshopper (''chapulín''). The station's name comes from the Bosque de Chapultepec, a large nearby park that contains a hill with the same name. Chapultepec means "grasshopper hill" in Nahuatl. The station was opened on 5 September 1969 with service eastward to Sevilla, when Chapultepec served as the western terminus of Line 1. The General Hospital of Mexico (Hospital General de México, HGM) is a hospital in Mexico City, operated by the Secretariat of Health, the federal government department in charge of all social health services in Mexico. History Towards the end of the 19th century, Dr. Eduardo Liceaga proposed the construction of a new hospital to fulfill the sanitary needs of the city. The General Hospital began its construction in 1896, with a total budget for the project of four million eight thousand pesos, and was inaugurated on February 5, 1905, by president Gral. Porfirio Díaz. At the time of its opening, there were 600 beds in 18 pavilions and four basic specialities. Colonia Roma
Colonia Roma, also called La Roma or simply, Roma, is a district located in the Cuauhtémoc, D.F., Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City just west of the Historic center of Mexico City, city's historic center. The area comprises two ''colonia (Mexico), colonias'': Roma Norte and Roma Sur, divided by Coahuila street. The colonia was originally planned as an upper-class Porfirio Díaz, Porfirian neighborhood in the early twentieth century. Colonia Doctores
Colonia Doctores (''English: Doctors' Colony'') is an official neighborhood just southwest of the historic center of Mexico City. It is bordered by Avenida Cuauhtémoc to the west, across from Belen Street to the north, Eje Central to the east and Eje 3 Sur José Peón Contreras to the south. History The neighborhood was planned by Francisco Lascuráin in 1889, in an area called "La Indianilla". This name came from three indigenous women named María Clara, María Concepción and María Paula, who sold some of their land here to Father Domingo Pérez Barcia to build a small chapel. However, Lascuràin never followed through with his plans to construct the neighborhood. The Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers or Civil Service Social Security and Services Institute (, ISSSTE) is a federal agency in Mexico that administers part of Mexico's health care and social security systems for federal government workers. Unlike the Mexican Social Security Institute (or IMSS), which covers workers in the private sector, the ISSSTE is charged with providing benefits for federal government workers only.
