Hoodlum
A hoodlum is a thug, usually in a group of misfits who are associated with crime or theft. Early use The earliest reference to the word "hoodlum" was in the December 14, 1866, ''San Francisco Daily Evening Bulletin'' after the Hoodlum Band was arrested on December 13, 1866. Members of the gang were sentenced to the Industrial School for stealing clothes. The gang used many keys to enter hotel rooms and boarding houses. On December 14, 1866, Lazarus Moses was arrested for selling clothes stolen by the Hoodlum Band. Moses was fined $300. Moses's nickname was Fagin. The public read about the acts of the Hoodlum Band, and the word hoodlum became a synonym for a young thug. The term was associated with anti-Chinese violence. An article in ''The New York Times'' of July 26, 1877, stated: "People who sack Chinese houses and stone Chinamen are not workingmen. ''Hoodlum'' is a 1997 American crime drama film that gives a fictionalized account of the gang war between the Italian/ Jewish mafia alliance and the black gangsters of Harlem that took place in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The film concentrates on Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson ( Laurence Fishburne), Dutch Schultz ( Tim Roth), and Lucky Luciano ( Andy García). The Kamov Ka-26 (NATO reporting name Hoodlum) is a Soviet light utility helicopter with Coaxial rotors, co-axial rotors. Development The Ka-26 entered production in 1969 and 816 were built. A variant with a single turboshaft engine is the Kamov Ka-126, Ka-126. A twin-turboshaft–powered version is the Kamov Ka-226, Ka-226. (All the Ka-26/126/128/226 variants are code-named by NATO as "Hoodlum"). Design The fuselage of the Ka-26 consists of a fixed, bubble-shaped cockpit containing the pilot and co-pilot, plus a removable, variable box available in Medical evacuation, medevac, passenger-carrying and aerial application, crop duster versions.
