Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library
Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library is a library on Hon Sui Sen Drive within the Kent Ridge campus of the National University of Singapore. It was built in honour of Hon Sui Sen who served as the Ministry of Finance (Singapore), Minister for Finance from 1970 to 1984. History On 7 January 1984, Goh Chok Tong, then-Ministry of Defence (Singapore), Minister for Defence and Second Ministry of Health (Singapore), Minister for Health, announced that a library would be built at the School of Management of the National University of Singapore in memory of Hon Sui Sen, who served as the Minister for Finance, as well as a Parliament of Singapore, Member of Parliament representing the Havelock Constituency, and who had died in the previous year. Goh also announced that the Havelock Constituency and the Civil Service had established a fund for the construction of the building. Kent Ridge
Kent Ridge is the name of a ridge and a neighbourhood located in Pasir Panjang, in the Queenstown, Singapore, Queenstown Planning Area of Singapore. The area is notable for housing two parks within the Southern Ridges, Kent Ridge Park and HortPark. The main campus of the National University of Singapore is located adjacent to it, straddling along the southern boundary of Kent Ridge. It is served by the Kent Ridge MRT station. The area occupied by Kent Ridge was formerly known as Pasir Panjang Ridge, and was originally a lowland evergreen rainforest. The natural vegetation of the area mainly consists of groves of Tembusu, Acacias and Dillenias. When the first settlers arrived in Singapore in the early 19th century, they grew crops such as rubber, pepper, Uncaria, gambier and pineapple on the ridge.
