Holstebro Municipality
Holstebro Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 59,201 (1. January 2025). Its mayor is H. C. Østerby, a member of the Social Democratic party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Holstebro. On 1 January 2007 Holstebro municipality was, due to ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Ulfborg-Vemb and Vinderup municipalities to form the new Holstebro municipality. Holstebro is also known for its infamous architecture style, and its architecture’s correlation to World War 2. Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). History

The town arose at a ford (crossing), ford by the creek, and later a bridge was erected. The name probably derives from ''holdested ved broen'' (lit, "a resting place by the bridge"). Holstebro was first mentioned in a letter from Bishop Thyge of Ribe in 1274. A large fire in 1552 destroyed many of the town's old buildings. Douzelage
Douzelage is a town twinning association with one town from each of the member states of the European Union and the United Kingdom. Name The name is a portmanteau of the French words "douze" for twelve and "jumelage" for twinning and stands for the twelve founder members, one for each European Union member state in 1991, when the Douzelage Charter was signed in Granville, Manche, Granville, France. Vemb
Vemb is a little town in west Jutland, Denmark with a population of 1,245 (1 January 2024). ''Vemb Kirke'' *1844 ''Vemb'' The first time the town was named, it was called ''Weæm''. The ending letter ''b'' emerged around the year 1600, disappeared, then finally appeared again in 1844 in the present spelling form ''Vemb''. The meaning of ''Vemb'' is not known, but could possibly mean "vi" (Danish for "we"). The oldest building in the current city boundary is ''Vemb kirke'' (Vemb church), which has undergone few changes since it was built around 1200.
