''Hold Me While I'm Naked'', is a 1966 American underground short 16 mm film directed by George Kuchar. It stars Kuchar, Donna Kerness, Stella Kuchar, and Andrea Lunin. The most popular and acclaimed of Kuchar's filmography of over 200 films – it was voted 52nd in ''Village Voice''s Critics' Poll of the 100 Best Films of the 20th Century. Plot The film is about a depressed independent director who becomes frustrated when he asks to film his actresses nude. It features partial nudity and sex scenes, as the director becomes jealous after seeing Kerness and her boyfriend make love during a steamy session in the shower. In summary, "a very direct and subtle, very sad and funny look at nothing more or less than sexual frustration and aloneness", according to the Ann Arbor Film Festival, who screened it in 2012. George Kuchar
George Kuchar (August 31, 1942 – September 6, 2011) was an American underground film film director, director and video artist, known for his "low-fi" aesthetic. Early life and career Kuchar trained as a commercial artist at the School of Industrial Art, now known as the High School of Art and Design, a vocational school in New York City. He graduated in 1960 and drew weather maps for a local news show. During this period, he and his twin brother Mike Kuchar were making 8mm film, 8mm movies, which were showcased in the then-burgeoning underground film scene alongside films by Andy Warhol, Kenneth Anger, and Stan Brakhage. Ken Jacobs brought attention of their work to Jonas Mekas, who championed their work in the ''Village Voice'' and elsewhere. After being laid off from a commercial art job in New York City, Kuchar was offered a teaching job in the film department of the San Francisco Art Institute, where he taught from 1971 until early 2011. Charles Ronald Rice (1935–1964) was an American experimental filmmaker, whose free-form style influenced experimental filmmakers in New York and California during the early 1960s. Biography Ron Rice was born in New York City in 1935. He was 29 when he died of pneumonia in Acapulco, Mexico in December 1964. Career ''The Flower Thief'' Rice twice collaborated with future Warhol star Taylor Mead, including Rice's first and best-known film, '' The Flower Thief'' (1960). Created in 1959 for less than $1,000, it used World War II aerial gunnery 16mm film cartridges donated to Rice by Hollywood producer Sam Katzman. In 1962, it was seen by a large New York audience as a selection of Amos Vogel's Cinema 16.
