Hi-Tek
Tony Louis Cottrell (born May 5, 1976), better known as Hi-Tek, is an American rapper and music producer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is best known for his work with Talib Kweli. His father is singer Willie Cottrell of the Willie Cottrell Band, whom Hi-Tek featured on his second album, '' Hi-Teknology 2''. Career 1996–2000 Hi-Tek grew up in the West End, Cincinnati. He started his career with hip hop group Mood and had a regional hit with "Hustle on the Side". That song was made for Mood's album ''Doom'', which featured amongst others Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli. Hi-Tek went on to produce most of Talib Kweli and Mos Def's '' Black Star'' (1998). In 2000, Tek and Kweli (under the name Reflection Eternal) released ''Train of Thought'' (2000) on Rawkus Records, with raps by Kweli and beats by Hi-Tek. Hi-Tek Corporation (later NMB Hi-Tek Corporation) was an American electronics company based in California. At first making relays, actuators, and timers in the 1960s, the company pivoted to the manufacture of keyboard assemblies and discrete keyswitches in the late 1970s. They proved successful in the keyboard business, gaining clients such as Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments, and were acquired by MinebeaMitsumi, Nippon Miniature Bearing in 1983. History Hi-Tek Corporation was founded in Santa Ana, California, in 1967 by Donald "Don" Hallerberg. Among the company's first products were solid-state relay, solid-state, time-delay relays, available as time-adjustable and fixed-duration units. Die Antwoord (; ) is a South African hip hop duo formed in Cape Town in 2008. The duo consists of rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser (also spelled Yo-Landi Visser and stylized as ¥o-Landi Vi$$er). Their music, a fusion of hip hop with rave music, is frequently produced by DJ Hi-Tek, also known as God, and performed in both English and Afrikaans. Die Antwoord rose to international fame in 2010 through the virality of the music video for their song "Enter the Ninja" on social media and through blog posts, soon signing to Interscope Records and reissuing their debut studio album, ''SOS'', later that year. ''Hi-Tek'' is the second solo studio album by American rapper Keak da Sneak. It was released on June 16, 2001, through Moe Doe Entertainment. Production was handled by Tone Capone, Ant Banks, One Drop Scott, Rick Rock, Alonzo Jackson, D-Dre and Sonny B. It features guest appearances from Bart and Agerman of 3X Krazy, Ant Banks, E-40, Eklipze, Harm, T-Luni and Too $hort. Hi-Tek Incident
The Hi-Tek incident, referred to in Vietnamese-language media as the Trần Trường incident ( or ), was a series of protests in 1999 by Vietnamese Americans in Little Saigon, Orange County, California, in response to Trần Văn Trường's display of the flag of communist Vietnam and a picture of Ho Chi Minh in the window of Hi-Tek Video, a video store that he owned. Occurring amidst the backdrop of the restoration of relations between the two countries and continuous anti-communist activities, some violent, undertaken through the past two decades, it has been considered the largest such protest in the history of Little Saigon. The protests took place over 53 days, starting on January 17, when the flag and picture were first hung. La Caution is a French hip hop duo consisting of Hi-Tekk and Nikkfurie, both of Moroccan descent. They are notable for creating the song "Thé à la Menthe" which is known for appearing (in instrumental form) in the 2004 American film '' Ocean's Twelve''. The phrase "thé à la menthe" is French for " mint tea". History La Caution's first single "Les rues électriques" ("electric streets") was released in 1999. They began to gain recognition participating in Assassin concerts. As a result, they secured the opening slot on the band's tour in 2000 and 2001; this enabled them to reach an increasingly larger audience. "Spin That Wheel" is a song by Hi Tek 3 in collaboration with Belgian group Technotronic members Ya Kid K and Jo Bogaert. It was released under the name "Hi Tek 3 featuring Ya Kid K" in 1990. Hi Tek 3 are listed as Kovali, El Sati and Yosef. Releases The track appeared on the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' soundtrack and was also released as a single. In some territories it was released as "Spin That Wheel (Turtles Get Real)". References to drug use (''"I smoke the mic like weed"'' and ''"This hypes you up like speed"'') were edited out of the soundtrack album. A David Morales remix of the track was also included on the Technotronic album '' Trip on This: The Remixes''. In Britain, "Spin That Wheel" was first issued in January 1990 and reached #69, but became a bigger hit when re-released that September, peaking at #15.
