Hermitage (religious Retreat)
A hermitage most authentically refers to a place where a hermit lives in seclusion from the world, or a building or settlement where a person or a group of people lived religiously, in seclusion. Particularly as a name or part of the name of properties its meaning is often imprecise, harking to a distant period of local history, components of the building material, or recalling any former sanctuary or holy place. Secondary churches or establishments run from a monastery were often called "hermitages". In the 18th century, some owners of English country houses adorned their gardens with a "hermitage", sometimes a Gothic ruin, but sometimes, as at Painshill Park, a romantic hut which a "hermit" was recruited to occupy. __NOTOC__ ''Hermitage'' is a defunct restaurant in Rijsoord, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1995 and retained that rating until 2014. In 2013, Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 15 out of 20 points. ''Hermitage'' was a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise. Head chef of ''Hermitage'' was Jan Klein. Jan Klein started the restaurant in Zwijndrecht and relocated to Rijsoord in 1999. This building is a monument named "Wapen van Rijsoord", built as a farm around 1800. The restaurant closed down on 10 June 2014 when chef Klein filed for bankruptcy. He cites as main causes for the bankruptcy his expensive monumental building and price campaign weeks that favoured price above quality. On 31 October 2014 a new restaurant, Ross Lovell, opened in the Wapen van Rijsoord building. H'ART Museum is an art museum located on the banks of the Amstel river in Amsterdam. Formerly a satellite of the Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg, Russia, the museum cut ties with the Hermitage after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The building opened in 1682 as a retirement home for elderly women under the name Diaconie Oude Vrouwen Huys () on the east bank of the river Amstel. From 1817, the facility housed both elderly men and women, and was renamed Diaconie Oude Vrouwen- en Oude Mannenhuis, Mannenhuis (English: Deanery Home for Old Men and Women). Hermitage House was a large Georgian mansion in Castleconnell, County Limerick, Ireland. It was built circa 1800 for George Evans Bruce (1782-1868), a local banker who was subsequently disgraced following the collapse of various Limerick banks in which he was a partner including Charlieville Bank and Bruce's Bank. It was situated in a spectacular location overlooking the Falls of Doonass on the River Shannon and was said to be an imposing structure of 37 rooms. It was a 5 bay structure with four large corinthian pilasters supporting a smaller pediment at the front of the three story over basement building while there was a stone balustrade along the front parapet of the house with a stone urn at its centre. Tai Kok Tsui is an area west of Mong Kok in Yau Tsim Mong District, Yau Tsim Mong district in the Kowloon region of Hong Kong. The mixed land use of industrial and residential is present in the old area. The Cosmopolitan Dock and oil depots were previously located there.
