Here We'll Stay
"Here We'll Stay" is a song written by Tony Colton and Jean Roussel and first recorded by Sonia Jones for the UK pre-selection for the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest. The song was then picked up in 1983 by ABBA member Frida and Phil Collins and recorded as a duet from her album ''Something's Going On'' and a solo version was released as the final single from the album. For the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest, the national selection show ''A Song for Europe'' was held at the BBC TV Studios in London on 26 March 1980. 12 songs were in the running to represent the UK, including "Here We'll Stay". However, the song finished in 11th place with two songs in joint first place: Prima Donna's " Love Enough for Two" and Maggie Moone's "Happy Everything". Sonia Jones is a singer who is recognised for her session, touring and soundtrack performances. Her session work has included pop acts of the 1970s and 1980s. ''Something's Going On'' is the third solo album by Swedish singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Frida), one of the founding members of the Swedish pop group ABBA and her first album recorded entirely in English. Her previous two albums had been recorded in Swedish. Recorded in early 1982 during the final months of ABBA, the album was released on 10 September of that same year. Produced by Phil Collins with Hugh Padgham, the album featured a harder-edged and more rock-oriented sound than the music she had previously recorded with ABBA and it included Collins' distinctive gated reverb drum sound. The record was met with a positive reception by both critics and the public, with sales in excess of 1.5 million copies, making it the best-selling solo record of any of the ABBA members to date. Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles (also known as Bubbling Under the Hot 100) is a chart published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine in the United States. The chart lists the top songs that have not yet charted on the main ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Chart rankings are based on radio airplay, sales, and streams. Lars Sven "Lasse" Hallström (; born 2 June 1946) is a Swedish film director. "Arrival" is a 1976 composition by Swedish pop group ABBA from their album ''Arrival''. It is an instrumental piece, mainly the brainchild of member Benny Andersson. The most widely heard cover versions are ones by French singer Michèle Torr released under the title "J'aime", British musician Mike Oldfield on his album '' QE2'', the singing duo Daniel Balavoine and Anni-Frid Lyngstad creating a French-language song titled "Belle", and the duo Frida and BA Robertson, as part of the UK musical ''Abbacadabra'', performing an English-language version titled "Time". Polar Music is a Swedish record company founded in 1963 by Stig Anderson and his friend Bengt Bernhag. Background The first act that Polar Music signed was the Hootenanny Singers featuring Björn Ulvaeus. Polar eventually gained prosperity producing Ulvaeus' next group, international superstars ABBA. As a small Scandinavian company based in Sweden, Polar could not afford to set up operations worldwide and was ABBA's record company only in the Scandinavian countries. Therefore, ABBA's recordings were licensed to different record companies in each country, but usually to companies that had international operations, meaning they could effectively compete with each other to acquire the licenses in more countries if they proved successful in their own.
