Herbert Edgar Wright Jr. (13 September 1917 – 12 November 2015) was an United States, American Quaternary scientist. His research focused on changes in landscape and environment over the past 100,000 years. Wright's research interests included arid-region geomorphology and landscape evolution, with a focus on glacial geology and climate history. He studied vegetation development and environmental history, analyzing the timing and mechanisms of climate-driven vegetational shifts in North America during the last 18,000 years. Herbert Wright (politician)
Herbert Henry Wright (October 2, 1880—September 21, 1944) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1936 to 1941. Wright was born in Eugenia Falls, Ontario, and was educated in Emerson, Manitoba and at Wesley College in Winnipeg. He worked as a customs broker. Wright also saw action in World War I, serving with the 29th Battalion of the C.E.F. from 1914 to 1919 as a machine-gunner. He first ran for the Manitoba legislature in the 1927 provincial election as a Liberal candidate in Emerson. He finished second to Progressive candidate Robert Curran, losing by 139 votes. Wright later aligned himself with a group of Liberals who opposed the party's 1932 alliance (and subsequent merger) with the Progressives. He campaigned in the 1936 provincial election as a Liberal Independent, and defeated Curran by twenty votes. Herbert Wright (producer)
Herbert J. Wright (November 9, 1946 – August 24, 2005) was a science fiction author and television director and producer. He was born in Keokuk, Iowa. His most notable works were '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'' and '' War of the Worlds''. He directed a few episodes of the latter series and wrote and directed the season finale "The Angel of Death," which guest-starred his second wife Elaine Giftos. Among ''Star Trek'' fans he is known as the "Father of the Ferengi". Wright graduated from Yale with honors in 1969. After which he moved to Hollywood and working in the filmmaking industry. He also studied in Japan as an AFS/American Field Service exchange student, during which he met with director Akira Kurosawa, and began his lifelong study of martial arts.
