Heptad (chord)
A set (pitch set, pitch-class set, set class, set form, set genus, pitch collection) in music theory, as in mathematics and general parlance, is a collection of objects. In musical contexts the term is traditionally applied most often to collections of pitches or pitch-classes, but theorists have extended its use to other types of musical entities, so that one may speak of sets of durations or timbres, for example.Wittlich, Gary (1975). "Sets and Ordering Procedures in Twentieth-Century Music", ''Aspects of Twentieth-Century Music'', p.475. Wittlich, Gary (ed.). Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey: Prentice-Hall. . A set by itself does not necessarily possess any additional structure, such as an ordering or permutation. Nevertheless, it is often musically important to consider sets that are equipped with an order relation (called ''segments''); in such contexts, bare sets are often referred to as "unordered", for the sake of emphasis. Two-element sets are called dyads, three-el ...

Heptad (computing)
In computing and telecommunications, a unit of information is the capacity of some standard data storage system or communication channel, used to measure the capacities of other systems and channels. In information theory, units of information are also used to measure information contained in messages and the entropy of random variables. The most commonly used units of data storage capacity are the bit, the capacity of a system that has only two states, and the byte (or octet), which is equivalent to eight bits. Multiples of these units can be formed from these with the SI prefixes (power-of-ten prefixes) or the newer IEC binary prefixes (power-of-two prefixes). Primary units In 1928, Ralph Hartley observed a fundamental storage principle, which was further formalized by Claude Shannon in 1945: the information that can be stored in a system is proportional to the logarithm of ''N'' possible states of that system, denoted . Changing the base of the logarithm from ''b'' to a diff ...

Heptad Repeat
The heptad repeat is an example of a structural motif that consists of a repeating pattern of seven amino acids: ''a b c d e f g'' H P P H C P C where H represents hydrophobic residues, C represents, typically, charged residues, and P represents polar (and, therefore, hydrophilic) residues. The positions of the heptad repeat are commonly denoted by the lowercase letters ''a'' through ''g''. These motifs are the basis for most coiled coils and, in particular, leucine zippers, which have predominantly leucine in the ''d'' position of the heptad repeat. A conformational change in a heptad repeat in the SARS-CoV-2 Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) is a strain of coronavirus that causes COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019), the respiratory illness responsible for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The virus previously had a No ... spike protein facilitates entry of the virus into the host cell membrane. References {{DEFAULTSORT:Heptad Repe ...

L'Heptade
''L'Heptade'' is the third and final album from Harmonium, in which the band made a serious foray into progressive rock. It was released as a double- LP in 1976. It remains one of the best-known popular music double albums in Quebec. Album description ''L'Heptade'' is composed of seven core songs, in order: Comme un fou (Like a mad man), Chanson noire (Black song), Le premier ciel (The first heaven), L'exil (The exile), Le corridor (The hallway), Lumières de vie (Lights of life), and Comme un sage (Like a wise man). These seven songs were mainly written by the band leader Serge Fiori. The title, heptade, is the compound of two Greek affixes, hept- (seven) and -ade, which expresses both the notion of group (décade, pléiade) and epic movement (as in Iliad). Fiori mentioned, at the beginning of the live album of ''L'Heptade'', that the album, framed in seven songs, was evoking the journey of a man in one day through seven levels of consciousness; a rapid sigh of a man waking up, ...
