Henry Nevill, 2nd Earl of Abergavenny, Order of the Thistle, KT (22 February 1755 – 27 March 1843) was a British peer, styled Hon. Henry Nevill until 1784 and Viscount Nevill from 1784 to 1785. The eldest son of George Nevill, 1st Earl of Abergavenny, George Nevill, 17th Baron Bergavenny and his wife Henrietta Nevill, Baroness Bergavenny, Henrietta Pelham, he was born on 22 February 1755 and baptized on 19 March 1755 at St George's, Hanover Square. Nevill matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford on 29 May 1773, and took his Master of Arts (Oxbridge), MA from there on 8 March 1776. He married Mary Robinson (c.1760–1796), daughter of John Robinson (Treasury), John Robinson, on 3 October 1781, and they had the following children: *Lady Mary Catherine Nevill (27 February 1783 - 11 July 1807). Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Gilbert Ralph Nevill, 3rd Marquess of Abergavenny DL (2 September 1854 – 10 January 1938), styled Lord Henry Nevill between 1876 and 1927, was a British peer. Early life Neville was born in Bramham, West Yorkshire and christened at St. Alban's Church, Frant, as the second son of William Nevill, 1st Marquess of Abergavenny, and his wife Caroline Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, daughter of Sir John Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, 2nd Baronet. Career He was a lieutenant-colonel in the Territorial Army Reserves, a major in the Sussex Imperial Yeomanry and a deputy lieutenant of Sussex. In 1881 he lived in Chiddingstone, Kent and in 1891 at Thornhill, Hammerwood, East Sussex. He succeeded to the marquessate in October 1927, aged 73, on the death of his brother, who died without issue. Henry Nevill, 6th and ''de jure'' 4th Baron Abergavenny (between 1527 and 153510 February 1587) was an English peer. He was the son of Sir George Nevill, 5th Baron Bergavenny, and Mary Stafford (daughter of Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham). He succeeded to the barony upon the death of his father, George Nevill, 5th Baron Bergavenny. Biography Henry, sixth (sometimes fourth) Lord Abergavenny, had summons to parliament on 23 January 1552, to 15 October 1586. He was one of the peers that sat in judgment on Mary, Queen of Scots, at Fotheringay. He died at his seat called Comfort, near Birling, Kent, on 10 February 1587. Henry Nevill, ''de facto'' 9th (''de jure'' 2nd) Baron Bergavenny (c. 1570 – c. December 1641) was an English iron founder, soldier and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1601 and 1622 when he inherited the Baron Bergavenny peerage. Life Nevill was the son of Edward Nevill, 8th Baron Bergavenny and his wife Rachel Lennard, daughter of John Lennard. He was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge in 1586 and was awarded BA in 1589. He was incorporated at Oxford University and awarded MA in 1594. Recusant He then travelled abroad and was at Venice in July 1594 where he was approached by English Catholics, presumably with the intention of involving him in one of the numerous conspiracies against Elizabeth I which were rife in that decade. Henry Ralph Nevill (17 June 1821 – 17 October 1900) was Archdeacon of Norfolk from 1874 until his death. Nevill was educated at Rugby and University College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1848.
