Henry Lang (public Servant)
Henry George Lang (3 March 1919 – 17 April 1997) was a New Zealand public servant, economist, university professor and company director. He was born in Vienna, Austria on 3 March 1919 and later became the step-son of the architect Ernst Plischke. Early years Lang was born Heinrich Lang, in 1919 in Vienna, to Anna Schwitzer, a landscape designer, and Robert Lang a hardware manufacturer. His parents later divorced, and in 1935, Anna Schwitzer remarried, marrying architect Ernest Plischke. In 1937, he enrolled in the Akademisches Gymnasium in Vienna, and had completed a year of mandatory military service in the Austrian military. Lang fled Austria as a refugee, together with his mother and step-father in 1939, after his mother came under threat of the German occupation of Austria due to her Jewish heritage. Sir Wallace Edward Rowling (; 15 November 1927 – 31 October 1995), commonly known as Bill Rowling, was a New Zealand politician who was the 30th prime minister of New Zealand from 1974 to 1975. He held office as the Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party, leader of the New Zealand Labour Party, Labour Party. Before entering politics, Rowling worked as a teacher and briefly served in the army; he became a member of Parliament (MP) in the 1962 Buller by-election. Not long after entering parliament Rowling began to rise through Labour's internal hierarchy, and he was Party President from 1970 to 1973. Order Of New Zealand
The Order of New Zealand is the highest honour in the New Zealand royal honours system, created "to recognise outstanding service to the Crown and people of New Zealand in a civil or military capacity". It was instituted by royal warrant on 6 February 1987. The order is modelled on the Order of Merit and the Order of the Companions of Honour. Composition The order comprises the Sovereign and ordinary, additional and honorary members. The ordinary membership is limited to 20 living members, and at any time there may be fewer than 20. New Zealand Forest Products (NZFP) was New Zealand's largest industrial company from its creation (following the consolidation of the New Zealand timbermilling sector) in 1936 until the privatisation of state-owned Telecom New Zealand in 1990. Sir David Henry KBE was responsible for negotiations on behalf of the Henry Family that saw the creation of New Zealand Forest Products. The company continued to expand following World War II and was a large-scale manufacturer of structural timber, board and other packaging products. Ian Prior (doctor)
Ian Ambury Miller Prior (16 October 1923 – 17 February 2009) was a New Zealand doctor, epidemiologist, environmental campaigner and arts patron. He is acknowledged as the founder of epidemiology in New Zealand. He conducted pioneering epidemiological studies of Māori, Cook Islanders and Tokelau Islanders in the 1960s. He was active in a number of environmental campaigns including the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and was well known for his support of the arts, in particular the Wellington Sculpture Trust.
