It was released on August 26, 2016 through Hopeless Records Hopeless Records is an American independent record label in Van Nuys, California. Sylar is an American metalcore band formed in Queens, New York City, New York in 2011. The band members formed from various bands in the New York City post-hardcore scene, and took their name from the ''Heroes'' villain Sylar. The band is part of the NYHC movement, and consisted of vocalist Jayden Panesso, rhythm guitarist/clean vocalist Miguel Cardona, lead guitarist Dustin Jennings, bassist Travis Hufton, and drummer Cody Ash. History Sylar formed in Queens, New York in 2011, with Jayden Panesso and Thomas Veroutis after the two future band members connected on social media. The band has been described as creating a sound as if they use the studio "like an extra instrument... heavily produced and processed, with angular edits and heavily gated guitars creating an almost mechanical sound." Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Erik Ron (born July 4, 1985) is an American producer, mixer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. He has worked with artists such as Panic! at the Disco, Set It Off, Issues, New Years Day, Too Close to Touch, I the Mighty, Motionless In White, Blessthefall, I See Stars, Sylar, Attila, and Godsmack. Life and career Early years Erik Ron was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up in the suburb of San Carlos, California, where he attended Carlmont High School. Erik started playing music as a teenager in alternative rock band Impel. After high school, he studied engineering at Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Los Angeles. Sylar (Gabriel Gray) is a fictional character and a primary antagonist of the NBC superhero drama series '' Heroes''. Portrayed by Zachary Quinto, he is a super-powered serial killer who targets other superhumans in order to steal their powers.
