Clay pigeon shooting, also known as clay target shooting, is a shooting sport involving shooting at shooting target#Clay pigeons, special flying targets known as "clay pigeons" or "clay targets" with a shotgun. Despite their name, the targets are usually inverted saucers made of pulverized limestone mixed with Pitch (resin), pitch and a brightly colored pigment. Helice (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Helice ( (modern ; Ancient Greek: ''Helike'') means "willow") was a name shared by several women: * Helice, nurse of the god Zeus during his infancy on Crete together with her sister Aex.Hyginus, ''De astronomia'2.13.5/ref> Her name suggests that she was a "willow-nymph", just as there were oak-tree nymphs and ash-nymphs (Dryads and Meliae). It is likely that she is the same as Ide. When Cronus once came to Crete in search of Zeus, the young god hid himself and his nurses by turning them into bears, as he became a serpent. Later, when he became king, he made them both constellations, Helice becoming Ursa Major, while Cynosura became Ursa Minor. Helike
Helike (; , pronounced , modern ) was an ancient Greek polis or city-state that was submerged by a tsunami in the winter of 373 BC. It was located in the Regional units of Greece, regional unit of Achaea, northern Peloponnesos, two kilometres (12 Stadia (length), stadia) from the Corinthian Gulf and near the city of Boura, Greece, Boura, which, like Helike, was a member of the Achaean League. Modern research attributes the catastrophe to an earthquake and accompanying tsunami which destroyed and submerged the city. The remains of Helike were rediscovered in 2001 buried in an ancient lagoon near the village of Rizomylos, Achaea, Rizomylos.
