''Hearts of Stone'' is the third album by New Jersey rock band Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, released in October 1978. The album peaked at number 112 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 chart during the week of January 13, 1979. All of the album's songs were written by Southside Johnny, Bruce Springsteen, and E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt. Van Zandt, the band's manager, also produced, arranged and played guitar. History Work on the album began in January 1978 at the Record Plant in New York City. After recording approximately eight songs (see "Outtakes" section below), both Southside Johnny and Steve Van Zandt felt that the material was not meeting their standards, and as a result temporarily abandoned the album sessions. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are an American musical group from the Jersey Shore sound, Jersey Shore formerly led by Southside Johnny. They have been recording albums since 1976 and are closely associated with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. They have recorded or performed several Springsteen songs, including "The Fever (Bruce Springsteen song), The Fever" (1973) and "Fade Away (Bruce Springsteen song), Fade Away" (1980). Springsteen has also performed with the band on several occasions. Frank Stefanko
Frank Stefanko (born 1946) is an American fine art photographer with connections to New Jersey performers Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen. Stefanko's early photographs, taken in the 1960s through the 1980s, reveal the emerging careers of the two young artists. Frank retains an ongoing working relationship with both Springsteen and Smith. A limited edition book was released in November 2017, entitled ''Bruce Springsteen: Further Up the Road''. The book chronicles the 40-year working relationship between Stefanko and Bruce Springsteen. It contains personal stories and hundreds of Frank's photos from the 1960s to 2017, many never before seen. ''Slow Dance'' is an album by the American musician Southside Johnny, released in 1988. It was marketed as a solo endeavor, although a few Asbury Jukes played on the album. The album peaked at No. 198 on the ''Billboard'' 200. The cover of "Ain't That Peculiar" was a minor radio hit. Southside Johnny promoted the album by again touring with the Asbury Jukes. Production The album was recorded during a six-month period between Asbury Jukes commitments. Southside Johnny wrote five of its 10 songs; he wanted to focus more on his lyrics than he had in the past. ''Men Without Women'' is the debut solo studio album by American musician Steven Van Zandt, credited as Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. It was released on October 1, 1982 by EMI America. The title track was inspired by the Ernest Hemingway collection of short stories of the same name. Background In 1980, Van Zandt produced '' Dedication'', a comeback album for singer Gary U.S. Bonds. Gary Gersh, who was in charge of the Bonds album at EMI America Records, subsequently approached Van Zandt and indicated that the label would be interested in a Van Zandt solo project.
