HAY (company)
HAY is a Danish furniture company founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2002 by Mette and Rolf Hay. Its goal was to create and sell well-designed furniture that was accessible in terms of price as well as "design concepts". As of 2019, the brand is majority-owned by U.S. furniture company Herman Miller. The cofounders serve as HAY's creative directors, with Rolf in charge of the furniture division and Mette in charge of accessories. They are closely involved in the development of HAY products, which is collaboratively done among in-house designers and product developers as well as a roster of international designers such as Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Stefan Diez, and Naoto Fukasawa. George J. Sowden (born 1942 in Leeds, UK) is a designer and product developer. Career He studied architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art in the 1960s. In 1970, he moved to Milan, where he started working with Ettore Sottsass and Olivetti. Inga Sempé (born 1968) is a French designer and constructor of technical items, who designs furniture, lamps and other design objects for manufacturers like Ligne Roset, Alessi und Baccarat. She was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2007. Ana Kraš ( sr-Cyrl, Ана Краш; born July 25, 1984) is a Serbian furniture designer, photographer and fashion designer who is based in New York City. She has gained recognition for her Bonbon Lamps and for her photography for the Copenhagen Fashion Week sets, as well as for swimwear.
