Harvard World Model United Nations
The Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) is an annual traveling model United Nations conference that is run by the Harvard International Relations Council. WorldMUN moves to a new city each year and is regarded as one of the most prestigious international MUN conferences today. The Conference was first held in 1992. The Conference targets college students from all over the world who have a passion and interest to become a diplomat in the future. General information and history WorldMUN uses a competitive bidding process to select locations for each conference, with prospective host teams, usually consisting of the MUN societies of large universities, applying. The conference is generally held in March. Model United Nations
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN (MUN), is an educational simulation of the United Nations, which teaches students about diplomacy, international relations, global issues, and how the United Nations is run. During a model UN conference, delegates assume the roles of representatives of countries, organizations, or individuals to collaborate and present global issues. MUN fosters skills in research, public speaking, debating, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. While MUN is primarily an extracurricular activity, some schools integrate it into their curriculum as a class. Its purpose is to deepen understanding of global issues and encourage civic engagement. Delegates prepare for conferences by conducting research, drafting position papers, and formulating policy proposals.
