Hartmut Keyler
Hartmut Keyler (born 29 June 1936) is a German architect who served as a member of the World Scout Committee, as well as a member of the European Scout Committee. Professional career Keyler was born in Esslingen am Neckar, and attended school in Esslingen, Korntal and Munich. From 1953 to 1955 he was apprenticed as a carpenter. Beginning in 1955, Keyler studied architecture at the Staatsbauschule München (today: Munich University of Applied Sciences). Since 1959, he works as freelance architect in Munich. Keyler became a member of Bund Deutscher Architekten and Deutscher Werkbund in 1971. In 1994, he was appointed to the Bayerische Akademie Ländlicher Raum. World Scout Committee
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The WOSM's current stated mission is "to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society". The Deutschsprachige Konferenz der Pfadfinderverbände (DSK) (German-speaking Conference of Scout Associations) is the international community of Scouting organizations in the German-speaking countries, an umbrella of Central European organizations within the World Organization of the Scout Movement or World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, including Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France ( Alsace), South Tyrol ( Italy), the German-speaking Community of Belgium, and Liechtenstein. Its members are internationally recognized German Scouting associations and the minority German-speaking Scouting associations. The DSK was started as a language based meeting but has developed to a common platform whose aims are the informal cooperation of WOSM/WAGGGS-organizations, including 11 participant countries as of 2001. Scouting And Guiding In Germany
The Scout movement in Germany consists of about 150 different associations and federations with about 260,000 Scouts and Guides. History Scouting in Germany started in 1909. After World War I, German Scouting became involved with the German Youth Movement, of which the Wandervogel was a part. Another group that, while short-lived, was influential on later German Scouting, was the Deutsche Jungenschaft vom 1.11.1929 founded by Eberhard Koebel; some specifics of German Scouting derive from Koebel's group. German Scouting flourished until 1934-35, when nearly all associations were closed and their members had to join the Hitler Youth. In West Germany and West Berlin, Scouting was reestablished after 1945, but it was banned in East Germany until 1990 in favor of the Thälmann Pioneers and the Free German Youth. Silver World Award
The Silver World Award is a distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is presented for noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on an international basis. Recipients must be a citizen of a country with a Scouting program that is a member of the World Scout Conference. Registered members of the BSA are not eligible for this award. Award The award consists of a silver medallion enameled in blue with meridian lines, stars and the universal emblem of the BSA suspended from a red and white striped ribbon worn around the neck. Bronze Wolf
The Bronze Wolf Award is bestowed by the World Scout Committee (WSC) to acknowledge "outstanding service by an individual to the World Scout Movement". It is the highest honor that can be given a volunteer Scout leader in the world and it is the only award given by the WSC. Since the award's creation in 1935, fewer than 400 of the several millions of Scouts throughout the world have received the award. History Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell, initially recognized outstanding contributions to Scouting by any Scout with the bestowal of the Silver Wolf, but although he was Chief Scout of the World, the Silver Wolf was associated with British Scouting. The European Scout Region is one of six geographical subdivisions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with a satellite office in Brussels, Belgium.
