Betty Harte (1882–1965) was a leading lady during the heyday of the silent film era, starring in nine feature films and 108 short films. She is credited with writing four screenplays. Bill Harte
Bill Harte is a retired American soccer defender who played one season in Major League Soccer. Harte attended Loyola University Maryland where he played on the men's soccer team from 1991 to 1993. In the summer of 1994, Harte played for the Washington Warthogs in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. In October 1994, Harte signed with the Baltimore Bays of the USISL. In the fall of 1996, he signed with the Baltimore Spirit of the National Professional Soccer League. He played nine games for the Spirit before being waived on December 26, 1996. On February 1, 1997, the New England Revolution selected Harte in the first round (third pick overall) of the Supplemental Draft. Thomas Harte
Thomas Harte was the first of seven Irish Republican Army (IRA) members executed by Irish forces in Mountjoy Prison and Portlaoise Prison prisons between 1940 and 1944. Arrest, Plan Kathleen and S-Plan On 6 September 1940 IRA Capt. Tom Harte of Lurgan, County Armagh was executed. Three weeks earlier, Capt. Harte was seriously wounded and arrested during a raid of a meeting of senior IRA men in Dublin. IRA Volunteer Patrick McGrath of Dublin (who had recently escaped from police custody) was also arrested at that time. Volunteer Tom Hunt escaped from the raid but was arrested soon after - 22 August 1940. McGrath was executed with Harte (Tom Hunt had his death sentence commuted on the morning of execution and was interned in the Curragh prison camp). They had been arrested after a gun battle with Garda (police) Special Branch in which Sergeant McKeown and Detective Hyland were shot dead. Detective Brady was also wounded (16 August 1940). Houston Harte
Robert William Houston Harte was a newspaperman who co-founded Harte-Hanks Communications. Harte was born January 12, 1893, in Knob Noster, Missouri. After a year at the University of California, Harte returned to the University of Missouri, where he received his degree in journalism in 1915. Journalism Harte went to work as business manager for the ''Missouri Republican'' and was then its editor and publisher until 1920. Hanks' first newspaper acquisitions were the ''Abilene Reporter-News'' and the ''San Angelo Standard''. During the 1920s and '30s, he continued to acquire other newspapers, including the '' Corpus Christi Times ''. Harte-Hanks Newspapers was created in 1948. Henry Hickman Harte
Henry Hickman Harte (1790–1848) was an Irish mathematician and clergyman. Life Harte, the son of a solicitor, was born in the county of Limerick, Ireland in 1790. He entered Trinity College Dublin in 1806, and became a Scholar in 1809. He earned his BA in 1811 (and MA in 1823), and served as the Donegall Lecturer in Mathematics from 1827 to 1832. In 1831 Harte accepted the college living of Cappagh, diocese of Derry, co. Tyrone. He died on Sunday, 5 April 1848, having preached on the same day in his church, where he was also buried. Harte was the author of a translation of Laplace's ''Système du Monde'', to which work he added 'Mathematical Proofs and Explanatory Remarks,' Dublin, 1830. Mickey Harte
Mickey Harte (born 1954) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. He has been joint-manager of Offaly since 2024. Harte managed the Tyrone county team from 2003 until his resignation in 2020, at which time he was the longest-serving manager then active with the same team in inter-county competition. He is the most successful senior manager in the county's history, having led it to three All-Ireland SFC titles, as well as six Ulster SFC titles, one National League and twelve Dr McKenna Cups.
