Harry Wallace (rugby League)
Henry Wallace (16 February 1882 – 8 May 1917) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1900s and 1910s. He played at representative level for England and Yorkshire, and at club level for Hull F.C., as a , or . Harry Wallace served as Private with the 10th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry in World War I, and died in service at Arras, France, leaving behind a widow and five children. North Shields ( ) is a town in the borough of North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It is north-east of Newcastle upon Tyne and borders nearby Wallsend and Tynemouth. The population of North Shields at the 2021–2022 United Kingdom censuses, 2021 census was 6,137. Since 1974, it has been in the North Tyneside borough of Tyne and Wear: its historic administration was as part of the Castle wapentake, ward in county of Northumberland. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the Leeds city centre, city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside (ward), Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds South (UK Parliament constituency), Leeds South parliamentary constituency. The Rugby Football League Challenge Cup, commonly known just as the Challenge Cup is a Single-elimination tournament, knockout rugby league cup competition organised by the Rugby Football League, held annually since 1896, it is the world's oldest cup competition in either rugby union, code of rugby. A concurrent Women's Challenge Cup and Wheelchair Challenge Cup have been held since 2012 and 2015 respectively. The competition is open to all eligible clubs down to British rugby league system, Tier 5. Some amateur clubs have to qualify to enter in Round One while others can apply through the RFL to enter. 1909–10 Northern Rugby Football Union Season
The 1909–10 Northern Rugby Football Union season was the 15th season of rugby league football. Season summary Aberdare, Barry and Mid-Rhondda had dropped out, leaving 28 teams. Oldham won their second Championship this season. After finishing top of the regular season table, they went on to beat Wigan 13-7 in the play-off final. The Challenge Cup Winners were Leeds who defeated Hull F.C. 26-12 in replay after a 7-7 draw. At the close of the season, the Northern Union's leading players were selected to go on the 1910 Great Britain Lions tour of Australia and New Zealand. Oldham won the Lancashire League, and Wakefield Trinity won the Yorkshire League. Wigan beat Leigh 22–5 to win the Lancashire Cup, and Huddersfield beat Batley 21–0 to win the Yorkshire County Cup. Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Headingley Rugby Stadium (known as AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium due to sponsorship) is a rugby league stadium in Headingley, Leeds and shares the same site as Headingley Cricket Ground. 1908–09 Northern Rugby Football Union Season
The 1908–09 Northern Rugby Football Union season was the 14th season of rugby league football in the United Kingdom. The governing body, the Northern Union (NU) decided to admit four extra clubs, all from Wales; Aberdare, Barry, Mid-Rhondda and Treherbert, to expand the Northern Rugby League to 31 clubs. With six Welsh clubs in the league the NU also established a Welsh League along the same lines as the existing Lancashire and Yorkshire leagues. Wigan won their first Championship this season beating Oldham 7-3 in the play-off final. Wigan also ended the regular season as the league leaders. Oldham's appearance in the Championship final was the first time that a team from outside the top two in the league had reached the final. Wigan won the Lancashire League. Wakefield Trinity is a professional rugby league club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. The club play their home fixtures at the DIY Kitchen Stadium, Belle Vue (Wakefield), Belle Vue and currently compete in the Super League, the top tier of the British rugby league system. The club was one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Rugby Football League, Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. Huddersfield
Huddersfield is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne is to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town.
