Harry Clarke
Henry Patrick Clarke (17 March 1889 – 6 January 1931) was an Irish stained-glass artist and book illustrator. Born in Dublin, he was a leading figure in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement. His work was influenced by both the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. His stained glass was particularly informed by the French Symbolist movement. Early life Henry Patrick Clarke was born on 17 March 1889, the younger son and third child of Joshua Clarke and Brigid (née MacGonigal) Clarke. Joshua Clarke was a church decorator who moved to Dublin from Leeds in 1877 and started a decorating business, Joshua Clarke & Sons, which later incorporated a stained glass division. Through his work with his father, Clarke was exposed to many schools of art but Art Nouveau in particular. Harry Clarke (American Football)
Harry Charles "Flash" Clarke (December 1, 1916 – December 31, 2005) was an American professional football player. He played halfback for four seasons for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). He later played three seasons in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). He played college football for West Virginia Mountaineers. College career Harry Clarke set many records while playing for West Virginia University. He still holds some to this day. While at WVU Clarke rushed for 921 yards, which was a team record at the time, in the 1938 season. He was inducted into the university's hall of fame in 1977. Henry Alfred Clarke (23 February 1923 – 16 April 2000) was a professional footballer who spent his entire senior career at Tottenham Hotspur. He also represented England on one occasion. Football career Clarke joined Spurs in March 1949 from Lovells Athletic. He played a total of 322 matches at centre half and netting four goals in all competitions between 1949 and 1956. A cornerstone of the push and run side of the early 1950s when he featured in all 42 matches of the Championship winning side of 1950–51. After retiring from competitive football, Clarke joined the club's coaching staff. Harry Corson Clarke (January 13, 1861 – March 3, 1923) was an American theatre actor and manager who played a single game of Major League baseball in 1889. Clarke was born in New York City, the son of H. G. Clarke and Adele Clarke, both actors. His grandfather Corson W. Clarke was also a noted actor, and the stage manager at Barnum's Museum. Harry Clarke began his stage career in his youth by playing with his mother and acting as advance agent for various companies, but made his real debut as an actor in 1884, when he played a part in '' The Lights o' London''. Harry Gladstone Clarke (1 June 1881 – 8 April 1956) was a Canadian parliamentarian and insurance agent. Clarke was an alderman on Toronto City Council for Ward 2, when he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1935 federal election as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Rosedale. He was defeated in the summer of 1939 in his attempt to win the nomination as a National Conservative candidate in the 1940 federal election by Harry Jackman. After he and his supporters unsuccessfully tried to obtain an "open convention" in Rosedale in early 1940 to re-contest the nomination, he retired from politics. He died en route to Florida at Pennsylvania in 1956.
