Christian Hargreaves (born 12 May 1972) is an English football manager, former footballer and pundit. As a player he was a forward and midfielder who played for Grimsby Town, Scarborough, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion, Hereford United, Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town, Brentford, Oxford United and Torquay United He subsequently managed Torquay United from January 2014 until June 2015, and Yeovil Town from May until October 2022. Playing career Hargreaves began as a youth team player at Everton but came back to his home town club Grimsby Town as a trainee with June 1988, turning professional in December 1989. He had a loan spell with Scarborough in March 1993, before leaving Grimsby to join Hull City in July 1993 for a fee of £50,000. Herbert Silvester Hargreaves (30thMarch 1913 – 29 September 1990) was an English first-class cricketer, who played nineteen matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1934 and 1938. He also appeared for Yorkshire Second XI between 1934 and 1938, and the Minor Counties in 1937. Born in Cinder Hill, Shireoaks, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England, Hargreaves was a right arm fast medium bowler, who took 59 wickets at 21.20, with a best of 5 for 93 against Kent. He scored 53 runs at an average of 3.31, with a best score of 9, and took five catches. Hargreaves took a wicket with his first ball against Cambridge University in 1934. Harry Hargreaves (9 February 1922, in Manchester – 12 November 2004, in Yeovil, Somerset) was an English cartoonist, best remembered for ''The Bird'', which he produced for '' Punch'', and for ''Hayseeds'' in the ''London Evening News''. Biography Born the son of a civil servant, Hargreaves was educated at Chorlton High School. Here he produced cartoons for the school magazine at the age of twelve, and two years later his first cartoon was published by the ''Manchester Evening News''. He was a choirboy at Manchester Cathedral in the years 1930–33. When his parents split up he left school at sixteen to work for Lorne & Howarth, an interior design company, studying architecture, mechanical drawing, and furniture design at Manchester School of Art in his spare time. Harold "Harry" Hargreaves (15 March 1896 – 1975) was a professional footballer who played for Great Harwood, East Lancashire Regiment, Nelson, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pontypridd, Tottenham Hotspur, Burnley, Rossendale United and Barnoldswick Town. Outside of football, he was also a keen cricketer and bowls player. Early life Hargreaves was born in Higham, Lancashire. From a young age, he was known by the nickname "Pey". During the First World War, he served with the East Lancashire Regiment, reaching the rank of sergeant. He was wounded in action and detained as a prisoner of war for 18 months. Harold Hargreaves (born 29 May 1876) was a British Indian archaeologist who served as Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) from 1928 to 1931. Early life Born on 29 May 1876, Hargreaves specialized in Buddhist iconography and served as headmaster of the Government High School in Amritsar before joining the Archaeological Survey of India. Career in the ASI Between 1910 and 1912, Hargreaves officiated as Superintendent of the Frontier Circle when the then Superintendent, Buddhist scholar Aurel Stein had been to England on deputation. When the serving Superintendent of the Northern Circle, J. Ph. Vogel resigned from the survey, Hargreaves was transferred to the Northern Circle to fill in his post. Frederick James Hargreaves
Frederick James Hargreaves (10 February 1891 – 4 September 1970) was a British astronomer and optician. He was considered the foremost optician in Britain, and was noted for his skill in mirror making and other optics for astronomical telescopes. He also made a series of observations and drawings of the turbulence in the belts and zones of Jupiter's atmosphere. He served as president of the British Astronomical Association (1942-1944).
