Hardee County is a County (United States), county located in the Florida Heartland of the Central Florida region in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population was 25,327. Its county seat is Wauchula, Florida, Wauchula. Hardee County comprises the Wauchula, Florida, Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Hardee County was created by an act of April 23, 1921 in which the Florida Legislature divided "old DeSoto County" into five parts, forming the Counties of Hardee, DeSoto County, Florida, DeSoto, Charlotte County, Florida, Charlotte, Highlands County, Florida, Highlands and Glades County, Florida, Glades. Hardee's Restaurants LLC is an American Fast food restaurant, fast-food restaurant chain operated by CKE Restaurants, CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. ("CKE") with locations primarily in the Southern and Midwestern United States. The company has evolved through several corporate ownerships since its establishment in 1960 in North Carolina. In April 1997, CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Carl's Jr., paid $327 million to Montreal-based Imasco Limited for Hardee's. The merger created a chain of 3,828 restaurants – 3,152 Hardee's outlets in 40 states and 10 foreign countries and 676 Carl's Jr. outlets, primarily in California. Hardee Hat
The Hardee hat, also known as the Model 1858 Dress Hat and sometimes nicknamed the " Jeff Davis", was the regulation dress hat for enlisted men in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The Hardee hat was also worn by Confederate soldiers. History Origin The Hardee hat was first worn by the 1st and 2nd U.S. Cavalry Regiments when raised in 1855. The issue of this new headdress to these units as a substitute for the shakos and forage caps worn by the remainder of the army was initially a provisional one inspired by then Major William J. Hardee of the 2nd Cavalry (see below). Usage During the Civil War most soldiers found the black felt hat to be too hot and heavy and shunned its use, preferring a forage cap or slouch hat. The unadorned, plain and often field-modified Hardee hat was, however, worn by Union troops, especially in the Western theater.
