Hap And Leonard
Hap and Leonard are two fictional amateur investigators and adventurers created by American author Joe R. Lansdale. They are the main characters in a series of twelve novels, four novellas, and three collections of stories and excerpts. They are two very different men and the best of friends, and now work together as private investigators for Hap's girlfriend Brett Sawyer. Together they always wind up in a lot of trouble with various criminal types in the fictional town of LaBorde, in East Texas and often find themselves attempting to solve various unpleasant and brutal crimes. Both men are well versed in the martial arts. The novels were adapted into a 2016–2018 TV series, produced by SundanceTV. Jim Mickle
Jim Mickle (born 1979) is an American director and writer, known for such films as '' Mulberry Street'', ''Stake Land'', '' We Are What We Are'' and '' Cold in July''. He also co-developed the SundanceTV series ''Hap and Leonard'', and the Netflix series '' Sweet Tooth''. Early life Jim Mickle was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in 1979. Mickle was inspired to become a director after he saw ''Army of Darkness''. He attended New York University and graduated in 2002. He worked as a production assistant and grip on a series of films by first-time directors who had not gone to film school. The experiences were frustrating for him, and he described the films as vanity projects. Mickle prefers directing and editing to writing, and he is attracted to the flexibility and intensity of horror films. Published in 2009, it is the first in the book in the series since '' Captains Outrageous'' in 2001. Plot summary When an old friend asks Leonard Pine to rescue his daughter from a drug dealer, Leonard accepts and of course brings his sidekick and best friend Hap Collins along for backup. With much violence and gunplay they rescue the daughter and end up taking down the drug dealer in the process. ''Captains Outrageous'' is a suspense/crime novel written by American author Joe R. Lansdale, the sixth novel in the ''Hap and Leonard'' series of books. Plot summary The novel opens with both Hap Collins and Leonard Pine working as a security guards at a chicken plant. One night Hap saves the owner's daughter from a violent rapist, and the owner rewards him with hundred thousand dollars. Hap and Leonard take a cruise, but they get into a dispute with the ship's maitre de about protocol and find themselves marooned in Mexico. While there they are mugged, and then rescued by a fisherman named Ferdinand and his daughter Beatrice. Hap forms a sexual relationship with Beatrice while the two stay with them, and discovers that she owes a large amount of money to a local gangster named Juan Miguel. Andrew Henry Vachss ( ; October 19, 1942 – November 23, 2021) was an American crime fiction author, child protection consultant, and attorney exclusively representing children and youths. Early life and career Vachss grew up in Manhattan on the Lower West Side. Before becoming a lawyer, Vachss held many front-line positions in child protection. He was a federal investigator in sexually transmitted diseases, and a New York City social-services caseworker. He worked in Biafra, entering the war zone just before the fall of the country. There he worked to find a land route to bring donated food and medical supplies across the border after the seaports were blocked and Red Cross airlifts banned by the Nigerian government; however, all attempts ultimately failed, resulting in rampant starvation.
