Leutnant Hanns Joachim Wolff was a World War I German flying ace credited with ten aerial victories.The Aerodrome website http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/wolff1.php Retrieved on 18 April 2010. Early life Hans Joachim Wolff was born in Mühlhausen, the German Empire, on 24 September 1895. Aerial service Wolff served with FA(A) 216 until 6 July 1917, when he was reassigned to Jagdstaffel 11. He was wounded in action fighting No. 1 Squadron RNAS on 14 August, and again on 23 November in combat against No. 56 Squadron RFC. On 18 March 1918, Wolff shot down and killed his first victim, which was possibly Lt. John McCudden. Wolff then steadily scored for the next two months, downing his tenth victim on 15 May 1918. He and his Fokker Dr.I were shot down the following day, most probably by Lt. Horace Barton of No. 24 Squadron RAF. __NOTOC__ ''Obersturmbannführer'' (Senior Assault-unit Leader; ; short: ''Ostubaf'') was a paramilitary rank in the German Nazi Party (NSDAP) which was used by the SA (''Sturmabteilung'') and the SS (''Schutzstaffel''). The rank of ''Obersturmbannführer'' was junior to the rank of ''Standartenführer'', and was equivalent to the military rank of ''Oberstleutnant'' ( lieutenant colonel) in the German Army. As the SA expanded, the rank of ''Ostubaf'' was created in May 1933 to provide a rank above '' Sturmbannführer''; likewise, the ''Ostubaf'' was an SS rank. The ''Obersturmbannführer'' rank insignia was composed of four silver pips and a black stripe on a silver background, all elements are centered in the left wing of the collar of the tunic of an SS or of an SA uniform. Hans Julius Wolff (b. August 27, 1902, Berlin; d. August 23, 1983, Freiburg im Breisgau) was a German Legal history, legal historian and jurist. He specialized in and was a renowned figure on Roman law, Roman and Ancient Greek law, Greek law. Life Wolff was born to a family of Judaism, Jewish scholars. His father, Bruno Wolff (1870–1918), was the head physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Gynecology at a head hospital run by the Jewish community in Berlin. He then switched to Anatomical pathology, pathological anatomy and became an assistant at the Pathological Institute in Rostock. In 1913, he completed his habilitation there, and in 1915 he became a professor. Hans followed in his father's footsteps, and went to the universities in Rostock and Berlin, however he studied ancient history, philology, and law.
