Hang (Lagwagon Album)
''Hang'' is the eighth studio album by American punk rock band Lagwagon, released on October 28, 2014 on Fat Wreck Chords. It is their first in 9 years, following 2005’s ''Resolve'' and their first to feature current bassist Joe Raposo, who replaced former member Jesse Buglione. The song "Drag" was originally released in 2011 in an acoustic version on frontman Joey Cape's solo album ''Doesn't Play Well with Others''. In February and March 2015, the band performed at Soundwave festival in Australia. Lagwagon
Lagwagon is an American punk rock band originally from Goleta, California, just outside Santa Barbara. They formed in 1989, went on hiatus in 2000, and reunited several times over the years. Their name comes from the band's tour van, which can be seen on the back cover of their 1994 second album '' Trashed''. The band has 12 releases through Fat Wreck Chords: nine studio albums, one EP, one live album and a collection of B-sides, compilation tracks and demos. Lagwagon has never had, nor have they seemed to pursue, strong mainstream success, but they do have a devoted underground following in North America, Europe and Asia. Their moderate success reflected a growing interest in punk rock during the 1990s, along with fellow California bands Rancid, Green Day and The Offspring. Their song "May 16" was also featured in '' Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2''. Joe Raposo (bassist)
Joe Raposo (born 1970), of Portuguese descent, is the bassist for the seminal California punk rock band Lagwagon and QA engineer lead at Zynga. He also played bass for a period of time for The Real Mckenzies and Mad Caddies. Additionally, Raposo plays bass for the San Francisco-based fusion group King City, with fellow Lagwagon member Chris Rest as well as filling in on bass for several live shows with the Dwarves. Raposo began his career in 1987 at the age of seventeen by joining California hardcore punk band Rich Kids on LSD as their new bassist and remained with RKL until their hiatus in 1996. In 1995, ''Maximumrocknroll'' called Raposo "flat out the best bass player in the state of California." He began playing shows with RKL again in 2003 (after they had re-formed a year prior) until their current hiatus after the death of lead singer Jason Sears. Dave Raun
Dave Raun (born June 7, 1970) a resident of Fresno, California, is the drummer for the seminal California punk rock band Lagwagon. He also filled in on drums for a short period for Sean "SC" Sellers of Good Riddance. Additionally, Raun drums for the punk rock cover band/supergroup Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, with fellow Lagwagon member Joey Cape. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes also features members of NOFX, Swingin' Utters, and Foo Fighters. Raun, a native of San Mateo, California, began his career in the mid to late '80's drumming in numerous bands before joining California hardcore punk band Rich Kids on LSD in 1992. Raun joined Lagwagon in 1996, replacing original drummer Derrick Plourde. Chris Rest
Chris Rest is an American guitarist best known for his work with the bands No Use For A Name, Rich Kids on LSD, and Lagwagon. He was Rich Kids on LSD's only constant member, having participated in every album and tour. Musical career Chris Rest was a founding member of hardcore punk band Rich Kids on LSD (RKL) when they formed in 1982. He remained the only consistent throughout the band's entire career. Through their influential career spanning three decades RKL released four full-length studio albums and one live album. RKL went on hiatus in 1995. In 1996 Rest formed a band called The Other with RKL's Bomer Manzullo and drummer Boz Rivera. This group produced one self-titled album released in 1997 on Honest Don's Records, a subsidiary label set up by Fat Wreck Chords to release material by bands that didn't fit within the roster at Fat. No Use for a Name (sometimes abbreviated NUFAN or No Use) was an American punk rock band from Sunnyvale, California, United States formed in 1986 by Chris Dodge (guitar), Steve Papoutsis (bass) and Rory Koff ( drums). The band's sound evolved considerably through its career, starting off as a Bay Area-influenced punk band, moving on to a much heavier metallic-tinted sound to finally taking on a much lighter brand of melodic punk as the years passed. The band's career ended in 2012 following Tony Sly's death on July 31 of that year. History No Use For a Name was formed in 1986 by longtime friends Dodge, Papoutsis and Koff. Peter, Paul And Mary
Peter, Paul and Mary was an American folk group formed in New York City in 1961 during the American folk music revival phenomenon. The trio consisted of tenor Peter Yarrow, baritone Paul Stookey, and contralto Mary Travers. The group's repertoire included songs written by Yarrow and Stookey, early songs by Bob Dylan, and covers of other folk musicians. They were enormously successful in the early- and mid-1960s, with their debut album topping the charts for weeks, and helped popularize the folk music revival. After the death of Travers in 2009, Yarrow and Stookey continued to perform as a duo under their individual names. Mary Travers said she was influenced by Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and the Weavers. Soundwave (Australian Music Festival)
Soundwave was an annual music festival held in major cities around Australia, run and promoted by Soundwave Touring. The festival originated in Perth, Western Australia, and began travelling to the other Australian capital cities in 2007. It featured a number of international and Australian music acts from various genres, including rock, metal and punk. The festival has been headlined by Deftones, the Offspring, Incubus, Alice in Chains, Bloodhound Gang, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Jimmy Eat World, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age, the Smashing Pumpkins, System of a Down, Slipknot, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Blink-182 and Metallica. Doesn't Play Well With Others
''Doesn't Play Well with Others'' is the second full-length solo album by Lagwagon and Bad Astronaut frontman Joey Cape, released on June 1, 2011. It was released with one song at a time, each month, during 2010 on Joey Cape's official website, beginning on January 18, 2010. The first track "Going for the Bronze" was released on January 18, 2010, while the last track "I Always Knew This Was Going to End Badly" was released on December 12, 2010. Cape's daughter Violet drew the pictures which are used as the artwork for each of the songs, as well as the full album's artwork. Before the release of the album, Cape has announced that those who will get a paid subscription would get a new song each month as well as receiving a package including a signed limited edition CD and a vinyl of all 12 songs.
