HammerFall
HammerFall is a Swedish power metal band from Gothenburg. The band was formed in 1993 by ex- Ceremonial Oath guitarist Oscar Dronjak. They have released thirteen studio albums. History Early days (1993–1996) HammerFall was formed when guitarist Oscar Dronjak quit Ceremonial Oath and invited Jesper Strömblad (from Ceremonial Oath and In Flames) to join him as a drummer in a new musical project he had been contemplating for some time. Dronjak had already composed the song "Steel Meets Steel," which was later included on HammerFall's debut album. Dronjak and Strömblad were later joined by lead guitarist Niklas Sundin, bassist Johan Larsson, and vocalist Mikael Stanne. When Niklas Sundin and Johan Larsson left HammerFall the following year, Glenn Ljungström (then guitarist of In Flames) and Fredrik Larsson (bassist of the former Swedish death metal band Dispatched), replaced them. Anders Johansson (drummer)
Anders Johansson (born 25 May 1962) is a Swedish musician, best known as the former drummer of HammerFall and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. He currently plays in the power metal band Tungsten. He is the son of jazz pianist Jan Johansson, and brother of Stratovarius and Rainbow keyboardist Jens Johansson. Biography Anders Johansson was born in Stockholm. He and his mum and younger brother later moved to Malmö after his father died in a car accident. The first instrument he played was the piano, but at the age of 14, after a bicycle accident, he switched to drums. From 1979 through 1982 he attended an electronics engineering school. In 1984 he moved to the United States to join his brother Jens in Yngwie Malmsteen's band. He recorded five albums and made five world tours with Malmsteen. Stefan Elmgren
Stefan Elmgren (born 17 May 1974) is the former guitarist of the Swedish power metal band HammerFall from 1997 to 2008. History Before becoming a member of HammerFall, he was the guitarist in the band Highlander. Elmgren has also worked with his solo project Full Strike and released one album called ''We Will Rise'' which was released in 2002. Stefan also plays the guitar in Joacim Cans' solo project Cans. He quit the band in 2008 to put more energy into his career as a pilot. He currently plays with Full Force. In 2014, it was announced that Elmgren would temporarily return to HammerFall, playing bass guitar while regular bass player Fredrik Larsson was on paternity leave. Oscar Fredrick Dronjak (born 20 January 1972) is a Swedish guitarist and founder of the power metal band HammerFall. Prior to the success of HammerFall, he also played and released albums with the death metal acts Ceremonial Oath and Crystal Age. Biography Dronjak was born in the Swedish town of Mölndal to a Serbian father from Belgrade and a Swedish mother. Dronjak's brother is Moderate politician Daniel Dronjak. His first instrument was the recorder; he then played trombone for a few years until, at the age of fourteen, he settled on guitar. Soon after, he started his first band, called The Hippie Killers. Pontus Norgren
Karl Pontus Norgren (born 22 April 1968) is a Swedish musician who has been the lead guitarist of the power metal band HammerFall since 2008. He previously also played with the hard rock band The Poodles, among others. Biography Norgren replaced former HammerFall guitarist Stefan Elmgren, who decided to focus on his career as a pilot. Norgren was contacted by Joacim Cans, HammerFall's singer, who asked him if he knew a good guitarist. Being a fan of HammerFall's music and desiring to play a heavier style of music than that of The Poodles (his previous band), Norgren suggested himself. Magnus Rosén
Klas Magnus Rosén (born 1963 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish musician. He was the bassist of Swedish band HammerFall from 1997 to 2007. Magnus Rosén started to play bass when he was 15 years old. after playing bass for three years he went on his first tour with the band Kung Sune. After the tour he moved to Los Angeles, where he played in many bands. Returning to Sweden he joined Billionaires Boys Club, where his future HammerFall bandmate, Anders Johansson, played drums. The band also featured ex-Accept guitarist Jörg Fischer and Yngwie Malmsteen's onetime vocalists Mark Boals and Göran Edman. Clas Håkan Jesper Strömblad (born 28 November 1972) is a Swedish musician who is the guitarist of the bands The Halo Effect, Dimension Zero and Cyhra, and formerly of In Flames and The Resistance. He is best known as the founder and former guitarist/drummer/keyboardist of the pioneering melodic death metal band In Flames, guitarist of the band Sinergy, bassist of Ceremonial Oath and drummer of HammerFall. Joacim Cans (born 19 February 1970) is a Swedish singer, best known as the lead vocalist of power metal band HammerFall. He is the only member aside from founder and guitarist Oscar Dronjak to appear on all of the band's albums. Cans attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. He released his first solo album titled '' Beyond the Gates'' in 2004. Cans participated with a choir team in the Swedish television program '' Körslaget'' (the Swedish version of ''Clash of the Choirs'') in 2008. On 10 May his team won the competition. Glenn Ljungström
Glenn Ljungström (born 7 September 1974) is a Swedish guitarist from Nödinge-Nol. He was a guitarist and composer in a few Swedish metal bands. He was most notably in the melodic death metal band In Flames from 1993 to 1997. He quit In Flames to support his family with a more stable job. The other two bands that which he took part in 1995 were in HammerFall until 1997, and a side project he co-founded with Jesper Strömblad called Dimension Zero, which he remained in until 2003. Bengt Mikael Stanne (born 20 May 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as the vocalist, primary lyricist and a former guitarist for the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Since the departure of original drummer Anders Jivarp in 2021, Stanne is the only remaining original member of the band. Stanne is also the vocalist for bands Grand Cadaver, The Halo Effect (band), the Halo Effect and Cemetery Skyline, which formed in 2020, 2021 and 2023, respectively.
