Hadley (, ) is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,325 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around the Hampshire and Mountain Farms Malls along Route 9 is a major shopping destination for the surrounding communities. History Early Hadley was first settled in 1659 and was officially incorporated in 1661. The former Norwottuck was renamed for Hadleigh, Suffolk. Its settlers were primarily a discontented group of families from the Puritan colonies of Hartford and Wethersfield, Connecticut, who petitioned to start a new colony up north after some controversy over doctrine in the local church. The settlement was led by John Russell. The first settler inside of Hadley was Nathaniel Dickinson, who surveyed the streets of what is now Hadley, Hatfield, and Amherst. Hadley Township (, ) is a civil township of Lapeer County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,547 at the 2020 Census. Communities * Cadyville was the area around a school house built in 1838. Starting in 1842, it had its own school district covering the southwest portion of the township, but was later absorbed by other school districts. * Farmers Creek is an unincorporated community at on the boundary between Metamora Township on the east and Hadley Township to the west. It was named for the nearby stream. John L. Morse purchased land here in 1833 and settled in 1834. Brother John and Henry M. Look also settled here in 1834. Hadley (, ) is a city in Murray County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 54 at the 2020 census. History Hadley was founded as "Summit Lake" on October 31, 1879. A post office with the name "Hadley" was established in 1880. It was incorporated as a village on September 1, 1903. Geography Hadley is in western Murray County and is surrounded by Leeds Township. It has a latitude of 44°00'N and a longitude of 95°51'W. Minnesota State Highway 30 runs along the southern border of the city, leading east to Slayton, the county seat, and west to Pipestone. ''Hadley!'' is a short-lived Australian political talk show hosted by commentator Ray Hadley which aired on the Australian subscription television news channel Sky News Australia in 2010 for four episodes. The program premiered on 16 November 2010. The program was broadcast live across the country from Sky News' Sydney studio in Macquarie Park and aired Wednesday evenings between 8:15 and 9:00 pm. The program's format consisted of a brief introduction by Hadley followed by an interview with a current federal politician. This was followed by the segment 'thumbs up or thumbs down' where Hadley and one of his guests, usually a journalist, posed pre-written questions to each other where they either agreed or disagreed. Hadley–Apennine
Hadley–Apennine is a region on the Near side of the Moon, near side of Moon, Earth's Moon that served as the landing site for the United States, American Apollo 15 mission, the fourth crewed landing on the Moon and the first of the "List of Apollo missions#Alphabetical mission types, J-missions", in July 1971. The site is located on the eastern edge of Mare Imbrium on a lava plain known as Palus Putredinis. Hadley–Apennine is bordered by the Montes Apenninus (often referred to as "Apennine Front"), a mountain range, and Hadley Rille, a meandering channel, on the east and west, respectively. Data obtained from the composition of soil samples collected on Apollo 15 show that most (about 90%) of the samples from the Apennine Front are brown-glass breccias, and approximately 60–70% obtained from the mare surface are basalt. Mons Hadley
Mons Hadley is a massif in the northern portion of the Montes Apenninus, a range in the northern hemisphere of the Moon. It has a height of above the adjacent plain and a maximum diameter of 25 km at the base. To the southwest of this mountain is a valley that served as the landing site for the Apollo 15 expedition. To the southwest of this same valley is the slightly smaller Mons Hadley Delta (δ) peak with a height of about 3.5 km above the valley floor. Mons Hadley Delta was visited and sampled by the astronauts, but Mons Hadley itself was only photographed from the surface. To the west of these peaks is the sinuous Rima Hadley rille. The Hadley cell, also known as the Hadley circulation, is a global-scale tropical atmospheric circulation that features air rising near the equator, flowing poleward near the tropopause at a height of above the Earth's surface, cooling and descending in the subtropics at around 25 degrees latitude, and then returning equatorward near the surface. It is a thermally direct circulation within the troposphere that emerges due to differences in insolation and heating between the tropics and the subtropics.
