HD Suisse
HD suisse is a former Swiss high-definition television channel operated by the public service broadcaster SRG SSR. This was the 8th channel launched by SRG SSR, and the first Swiss television channel available in high definition. The channel began broadcasting on 3 December 2007, at 20:00 CET. Programming came from the four TV networks operated by SRG SSR (Schweizer Fernsehen, Télévision Suisse Romande, Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana and Radio Television Rumantscha), plus music concerts and documentaries (produced by National Geographic Channel). The channel broadcast in all four national languages of Switzerland: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana (; RSI, abbreviated as RTSI until 28 February 2009) is a Swiss public broadcasting organisation, part of SRG SSR. RSI handles production and broadcasting of radio and television programs in Italian for Switzerland ( Italian-speaking Switzerland). RSI's administrative headquarters are located in Via Canevascini in Lugano- Besso. History "Radio svizzera di lingua italiana" was established in 1925 as "Radio Monte Ceneri", originally named after the mountain where the transmitter was placed. After several years of experimental broadcast, in 1933 the "Società svizzera di Radiodiffusione" (Swiss Radio Broadcasting Corporation) began regular transmissions in Ticino and Grigioni. RSI La 2 (''RSI La due'') is a Swiss public television channel owned by Radiotelevisione Svizzera di lingua Italiana. It is a sister channel of RSI La 1, broadcast in Italian. It mainly airs sport programmes, but also reruns and music shows. It does not broadcast any newscasts. History TSI launched its second channel in 1997, basing it on programming for a younger audience and sports. Unlike RSI La 1, RSI La 2 is not broadcast across the whole of Switzerland, but only in the Italian-speaking Switzerland. RSI LA 1 (''la uno'', formerly TSI 1) is one of two television channels produced by Radiotelevisione Svizzera di lingua Italiana for the Italian-speaking community of Switzerland. RTS 1 (french: RTS Un) is a Swiss public television channel owned by RTS Radio Télévision Suisse, the public broadcaster for the Romand people. History Launched on 1 May 1954 to succeed Télé Genève, RTS Un is the first channel of the two Swiss French networks of television group RTS (the other being RTS Deux). SRF zwei (''Swiss Radio and Television Two'') is a Swiss German-language free-to-air television channel run under the public SRG SSR broadcasting group.
