HC 21 Prešov
HC MV Transport Prešov is an ice hockey team playing in the Slovak 1. Liga, and formed in 2021, after HC Prešov Penguins announced the dissolvation of their club. They play in the city of Prešov, Slovakia. History The newly established hockey club HC 21 Prešov replaced HC 07 Detva in Slovak Extraliga from the season 2021–22. Ernest Bokroš was the head coach and the basic team should be made up of players from Detva. The final point for moving the Detvian club to Prešov gave the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation, but it was only a formality. The owner of the Detvian club, Róbert Ľupták, decided to move the Extraliga license to Prešov. Not only he moves from Detva to Prešov, but also several other players, including forward Ján Sýkora. The first captain of the team was Marek Zagrapan from Prešov, who came from HK Poprad. Zagrapan was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round, 13th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Prešov
Prešov (, hu, Eperjes, Rusyn language, Rusyn and Ukrainian language, Ukrainian: Пряшів) is a city in Eastern Slovakia. 2021–22 Slovak Extraliga Season
The 2021–22 Slovak Extraliga season was the 29th season of the Slovak Extraliga, the highest ice hockey league in Slovakia. Team changes The newly established hockey club HC 21 Prešov replaced HC 07 Detva in Tipos extraliga from this season as Prešov should be made up of Detva players. After three seasons in Slovak Extraliga, the Hungarian team DVTK Jegesmedvék left the league to participate in the Erste Liga. Regular season Standings Each team played 50 games: playing each of the other eleven teams four times – 2x at home, 2x away (44 games) and during the Christmas holidays (26.12.2021 – 9.1.2022) each team played the inserted matches within the region 1x at home, 1x away = 6 games. 2005 NHL Entry Draft
The 2005 NHL Entry Draft was the 43rd NHL Entry Draft. Originally scheduled to be held on June 25, the 2004–05 NHL lockout led to the draft being postponed to July 30. Special procedures were required to determine the order of picks, because the previous season had been cancelled due to the lockout. The first overall pick was won in a lottery by the Pittsburgh Penguins, who selected Sidney Crosby. Venue The draft was originally scheduled to be held on June 25, hosted by the Ottawa Senators at the Corel Centre (their home rink). However, the 2004–05 NHL lockout was still ongoing, causing the draft to be postponed. The lockout ended on 22 July with the approval of a new NHL collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The CBA set the new date of the draft as 30 July. The Corel Centre was still available but cannot be used on such short notice. The draft was instead held at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario. HK Poprad is a professional ice hockey team in the Tipsport Liga (hockey), Slovak Extraliga, the top ice hockey league in Slovakia. It plays its games in Poprad, Slovakia. Marek Zagrapan (born 6 December 1986) is a Slovak professional ice hockey centre. He was drafted by the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Buffalo Sabres in the first round, 13th overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Tipos Extraliga
The Tipos Extraliga (Slovak Extraliga) is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From the 2018–19 season to the 2020–21 season, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. In 2009, it was ranked by the IIHF as the fifth strongest league in Europe and in 2012, it was ranked by ''The Hockey News'' as the sixth-strongest league in the world behind the NHL, KHL, Swedish Hockey League, SM-liiga and Czech Extraliga.
