H. A. Davis
H. A. Davis (1879–1946) was an American politician from Arizona, who served as a senator in the 1st Arizona State Legislature. He was also a newspaperman and owned a printing business. Life Davis was originally from Nebraska, born on a ranch there in 1879. In his younger years he worked as a miner in Colorado, and in the newspaper business in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. He married Alice Greenhaugh in Iowa. In 1908 he moved to Arizona, where he went to work for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson. Davis was a newspaperman, and in 1909 was the editor of the Parker Herald, and by 1911 was the owner of the State Press Printing Company. Davis died from a heart attack on February 2, 1946, in Los Angeles, California. Maricopa County is in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Arizona. Allan Quilantang (born December 13, 1958), popularly known by his stage name Allan K., is a Filipino comedian, actor, singer and TV host. He is one of the co-hosts of the noontime variety show ''Eat Bulaga!'' Lewis Williams Douglas (July 2, 1894March 7, 1974) was an American politician, diplomat, businessman and academic. Early life and education Douglas was the son of James Douglas, Jr., a mining executive employed by the Phelps Dodge Company, and his wife Josephine "Josalee" Williams Douglas. Growing up in Bisbee and Nacozari de García, at the age of 11 he was sent east at the insistence of his grandfather, James Douglas to attend school. He spent two years at Hackley School before transferring to Montclair Academy, where he won awards for both academic success and character development, graduating in the class of 1912. On the advice of Arthur Curtiss James, Douglas attended Amherst College, where he joined Alpha Delta Phi and was involved in both athletics and student government. The Colorado River Compact is a 1922 agreement among the seven southwest U.S. states that fall within the Colorado River drainage basin. The pact governs the allocation of the river's water rights. The agreement, originally proposed by attorney Delph Carpenter, was signed at a meeting at Bishop's Lodge, near Santa Fe, New Mexico, by representatives of the seven states the Colorado river and its tributaries pass through on the way to Mexico. Fred Sutter
Fred Arthur Sutter Sr. (1874 – November 23, 1941) was an Arizona attorney and politician. He ran several times, unsuccessfully, for governor of the state, and was elected several times to the state legislature. Early life Fred Sutter was born in Marshall, Michigan, before moving to Nebraska with his family. The family then moved to Arizona in 1893. As young man, in 1894, he worked at the smelter in Bisbee, in order to earn money to help pay for his education expenses. In 1896, Sutter was sent to Shattuck's School in Faribault, Minnesota, following a send-off gala in Bisbee, Arizona. He finished attending the school and returned to Bisbee in 1899. He then went to law school, where he received his B. LL. By 1903 he was a practicing attorney in Bisbee, and was a partner in the law firm of Neale and Sutter. Ernest Hall (Arizona Politician)
Ernest R. Hall (1880-1959) was an Arizona politician who served a single term in the Arizona State Senate during the 3rd Arizona State Legislature. He ran several other times for the state legislature, mostly for the State Senate, but once for the State House of Representatives. He also ran three times for Arizona Secretary of State, winning in the 1920 election. Other offices he held were justice of the peace and postmaster, both in the Salome, Arizona area. He was a combat veteran of World War I, and was a very successful farmer in Maricopa County for several decades. Early life Hall was born on February 10, 1880, in Creston, Iowa.
