Gösta Engzell
Gösta Engzell (14 February 1897 – 7 March 1997) was a Swedish jurist and diplomat who is known for his activities to rescue Jews during World War II. He was the ambassador of Sweden to Finland between 1954 and 1963 and served in other diplomatic posts. Biography Engzell was born in 1897. He worked at the Göta Court of Appeal in 1929 and became a court councilor in 1933. Then he served as an audit secretary and as the director general for administrative affairs in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 1936. He headed the Ministry of Foreign Affair's legal department between 1938 and 1947. The department was in charge of all visa and immigration issues. Shortly after his appointment Engzell represented Sweden in the Évian Conference held at Évian-les-Bains, France, between 6 and 15 July 1938 to address the problem of German and Austrian Jewish refugees. Gösta Hjalmar Liljequist (1914–1995) was a Swedish meteorologist. In Sweden, radio broadcast weather forecasts begun in 1926, and, starting in 1941, Liljequist was one of the recurrent meteorologists appearing in Swedish radio for many years. Following his debut, his peculiar dialect caused mass protests which, together with an attack published by the humorist Kar de Mumma in the paper Svenska Dagbladet, caused broadcast forecasts to be taken over by Swedish public service radio during the war. After the war, Liljequist took part in the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE) (1949-1952). Gösta Clarence Isidor Krantz (14 June 1925 – 26 December 2008) was a Swedish actor and revue artist. Gösta Krantz was born in Ektorp in Nacka south-east of Stockholm. He started off as a confectioner, but in 1945 turned into acting after having participated in a popular revue named ''Vi som vill opp''. He later became a permanent stage member of the well-known revue group ''Casino-gänget''. In 1951, Krantz made his film acting debut in ''91:an Karlssons bravader'', and later performed in popular comedies such as ''Åsa-Nisse'', and various television dramas such as ''Rederiet''. Gösta Lars August Knutsson (original surname Johansson; 12 October 1908 – 4 April 1973) was a Swedish radio producer and writer of a popular series of children's books about the cat ''Pelle Svanslös''. Gösta Knutsson was born in a middle-class family in Stockholm and came to the University of Uppsala as a student, remaining in Uppsala for the rest of his life. After completing an M.A. degree, he was curator (chairman) of the Stockholm Nation and later chairman of the Uppsala Student Union (1936–1938). He was also editor of the student union paper ''Ergo'' 1940–42. During his time as student union chairman, he was also employed as head of the Uppsala office of the Swedish National Radio and remained there from 1936 until 1969. As such he introduced the quiz show in Sweden, with the first one recruiting the two teams from two of the student nations in Uppsala. Gösta Holmér
Gustaf "Gösta" Richard Mikael Holmér (23 September 1891 – 22 April 1983) was a Swedish athlete who competed in the 1912 and 1920 Olympics. In 1912 he won a bronze medal in the decathlon and placed eighth in the pentathlon, despite not running the 1500 m stage. In 1920, he placed fourth in the decathlon and was eliminated in the first round of the 110 m hurdles event. Nationally, Holmér won Swedish titles in the pentathlon (1912–13, 1915, 1917 and 1920), decathlon (1913 and 1917–19) and 110 m hurdles (1913). In the 1912 Olympic decathlon, Holmér finished fourth but was awarded a bronze medal after the winner Jim Thorpe was disqualified for having played semi-professional baseball. Thorpe was reinstated as a winner in 1982, and Holmér was moved down to the fourth place, yet he retained a bronze medal. Major General Anders Gösta Hökmark (14 June 1920 – 15 April 1993) was a Swedish Army officer. His senior commands include postings as Chief of the Army Staff and the General Staff Corps (1976–1979) and military commander of Bergslagen Military District (1979–1983). Early life Hökmark was born on 14 June 1920 in Malmö Karoli Parish, Malmöhus County, the son of Anders Persson, a merchant, and his wife Clara (née Ahlgren). Career Hökmark enrolled at the Military Academy Karlberg in Stockholm in 1940. He attended the same class as the future Major General Carl-Gustaf Ståhl. Gösta Gärdin (28 May 1923 – 12 December 2015) was a Swedish Army officer and modern pentathlete who won a bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Career Gärdin was born on 28 May 1923 in Linköping, Sweden, the son of colonel Georg Gärdin and his wife Märta (née Wästfelt). He was commissioned as an officer in 1944 and was assigned as a second lieutenant to Småland Artillery Regiment (A 6) the same year. Gärdin completed the Artillery and Engineering College's higher course from 1949 to 1951. Gärdin became captain in the General Staff Corps in 1956 and major in Boden Artillery Regiment (A 8) in 1962. He was appointed lieutenant colonel in the General Staff Corps in 1965 and was lieutenant colonel in Svea Artillery Regiment (A 1) 1967. Gärdin was promoted to colonel in 1969 and became head of the Military Academy Karlberg which he was until 1973 when he became the commander of Småland Artillery Regiment (A 6).
