Adolph Göpel
Adolph Göpel (29 September 1812 – 7 June 1847) was a German mathematician who wrote the first paper on hyperelliptic functions and who introduced Göpel tetrads. Life and work His uncle was a diplomat so he attended his first mathematical lectures in Italy when he was 13. He entered the Friedrich Wilhelm University in 1829 and received his doctorate in 1835. He did not correspond with many mathematicians, excepting August Leopold Crelle. Barbara Göpel
Barbara Göpel, née Barbara Malwine Auguste Sperling (24 February 1922, Arnsberg – 26 September 2017, Munich) was a German art historian. Life Her father Hans Sperling was a lawyer and came from Berlin. Her mother Auguste Elisabeth was also from Berlin. In 1934, the Sperling family returned to Berlin. Barbara worked in the Palais Beauharnais at the German embassy under Nazi Germany's ambassador to France Otto Abetz in Paris. In autumn 1943 Barbara met her future husband, Erhard Göpel, who, as the procurer of art objects for Hitler's Führermuseum Linz, was involved in looting art from Jewish art collections. After the war, she worked in the secretariat of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit. In 1950, she married the art historian Erhard Göpel. Together they worked on the catalog of Max Beckmann's paintings. Erhard Göpel (born June 3, 1906 in Leipzig, † October 29, 1966 in Munich) was a German art historian and high level Nazi agent who acquired art, including looted art, for Hitler’s Führermuseum. Life and work before 1939 Erhard Göpel (also spelled Goepel) studied art history with Wilhelm Pinder and Theodor Hetzer, who received his doctorate in 1937 with a thesis on "''Anthonis van Dyck, Philipp Le Roy and the copper engravers''". Maja Göpel (born 27 June 1976) is a German political economist, transformation researcher, and sustainability scientist with a focus on transdisciplinary. In 2019 she co-founded the Scientists for Future initiative. Göpel is an honorary professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg.
