Gödöllő, officially the City of Gödöllő, is a city in Pest County, Budapest metropolitan area, Hungary, about northeast from the outskirts of Budapest. Its population is 34,396 according to the 2010 census and is growing rapidly. It can be easily reached from Budapest with the suburban railway (HÉV), and national railway (Hungarian State Railways, MÁV-START). Gödöllő is home to the Szent István University, the main education institute of agriculture in Hungary. The palace at Gödöllő was originally built for the aristocratic Grassalkovich family; Franz Josef I of Austria, Franz Josef, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary and his wife Elisabeth of Bavaria, Elisabeth ("Sisi") later had their summer residence here. Communism saw much of the town's original one-storey housing levelled to make way for the blocks of flats which continue to dominate the town centre, as well as much of the Royal Forest and Elisabeth's Park levelled for industrial use. Gödöllő () is a district in central-northern part of Pest County. ''Gödöllő'' is also the name of the town where the district seat is found. The district is located in the Central Hungary Statistical Region. György Gémesi (born 3 January 1956) is a Hungarian doctor and politician. He is the current mayor of Gödöllő since 1990 and the president of New Start Party (''Új Kezdet''). M3 Motorway (Hungary)
The M3 motorway () is a Hungarian motorway connecting Budapest to Nyíregyháza. It will eventually connect Budapest to the Ukraine, Ukrainian border. Two other motorways branch off it, the M30 motorway (Hungary), M30 (connecting the M3 to Miskolc) and the M35 motorway (Hungary), M35 (connecting the M3 to Debrecen). The M3 follows route 3, and, later, route 4. The section of the motorway between Görbeháza and Nyíregyháza was opened to traffic in August 2007. Szent István University
The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences is a university of technology in Hungary. Its headquarters and main campus are located about 30 kilometres from the capital, Budapest, in the Central Hungarian town of Gödöllő. Other campuses are based in Budapest, Békéscsaba, Gyula, Jászberény and Szarvas. The university was established in 2000 from the merge of several previously independent institutions—the oldest of these being the former University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, founded in 1787. There are 174 districts in the 19 counties, and there are 23 districts in Budapest.
