Gymnastics At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's Vault
The men's vault (gymnastics), vault event at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held on 27 July and 4 August 2024 at the Accor Arena (referred to as the Bercy Arena due to IOC sponsorship rules). Unlike the other apparatus events, the vault requires gymnasts to perform two exercises in order for results to count towards the vault final; most of the gymnasts perform only one (if they are participating in team or individual all-around) or none (if they are participating in only other apparatus). 18 gymnasts from 16 nations (of the 318 total gymnasts) competed in the two-exercise vault in the qualifying round. Background This was the 26th appearance of the event, which is one of the five apparatus events held every time there were apparatus events at the Summer Olympics (no apparatus events were held in 1900, 1908, 1912, or 1920). Mahdi Olfati
Mahdi Olfati (; born 6 March 2001) is an Iranian artistic gymnast. He qualified to represent Iran at the 2024 Summer Olympics through the 2024 FIG World Cup series. He finished seventh in the Olympic vault final. At the 2022 Asian Games, he won a silver medal on the vault. This was the first time an Iranian gymnast won a medal at the Asian Games. Career Olfati began gymnastics when he was seven years old and joined the Iranian national team in 2017. At the 2017 Junior Asian Championships, he finished eighth on the vault. He placed ninth in the all-around at the 2018 Junior Asian Championships. Olfati finished sixth in the vault final at the 2021 Doha World Cup. Gymnastics events have been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. For 32 years, only men were allowed to compete. Beginning at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, women were allowed to compete in artistic gymnastics events as well. Gymnastics At The 2024 Summer Olympics
Gymnastics competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were contested in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The artistic (27 July to 5 August) and trampoline (2 August) events occurred at the Accor Arena (referred to as the Bercy Arena due to IOC sponsorship rules), with the rhythmic events staged at Adidas Arena, Porte de La Chapelle Arena from 8 to 10 August. Qualification The qualification pathway for the 2024 Summer Olympics is significantly simplified and modified from those in 2020. In the artistic team event, a maximum of five gymnasts will be eligible to participate as opposed to the four per team and two individuals who competed in 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo 2020. Omar Mohamed Fathy (, born 10 February 1999) is an Egyptian artistic gymnast. He is a four-time African all-around champion (2018, 2021, 2023, 2024), and he competed at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics. Career 2017–18 Mohamed made his World Championships debut in 2017 and finished 59th in the all-around during the qualification round. Miguel Rayderley Zapata Santana (born 26 May 1993) is a Spanish- Domincan artistic gymnast. He is the 2020 Olympic silver medalist on the floor exercise. He is also the 2015 World bronze medalist and the 2015 European Games champion on the floor exercise. Audrys Nin Reyes (born 2 January 1995) is a Dominican artistic gymnast. He is the 2019 and 2023 Pan American Games vault champion. He was the first Dominican gymnast to win a gold medal at the Pan American Games.
