Gymnastics At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Women's Floor
These are the results of the women's floor competition, one of six events for female competitors in artistic gymnastics at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The qualification and final rounds took place on September 17 and 25 at the Sydney SuperDome. Medalists Results Qualification Eighty-three gymnasts competed in the floor event during the qualification round on September 17. The eight highest scoring gymnasts advanced to the final on September 25. Each country was limited to two competitors in the final. Elena Mikhailovna Zamolodchikova (; born 19 September 1982) is a Russian former artistic gymnast and four-time Gymnastics at the Summer Olympics, Olympic medallist. She is the 2000 Olympic Games, 2000 Olympic champion on vault and floor exercise, and she is a two-time World champion on vault (1999 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 1999, 2002 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2002). Artistic Gymnastics At The Summer Olympics
Gymnastics events have been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. For 32 years, only men were allowed to compete. Beginning at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, women were allowed to compete in artistic gymnastics events as well. Gymnastics At The 2000 Summer Olympics
At the 2000 Summer Olympics, three different gymnastics disciplines were contested: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline. The artistic gymnastics and trampoline events were held at the Sydney SuperDome on 16–25 September and 22–23 September, respectively. Dong Fangxiao
Dong Fangxiao () is a Chinese retired international gymnast who competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal with the Chinese team at the Olympics, as well as the 1999 World Championships in Tianjin China, but both the medals were stripped from her and her teammates when it was discovered she had competed underage. Lisa Skinner
Lisa Maree Skinner (born 17 February 1981 Brisbane and lived in Clear Mountain, Brisbane, Australia) is an Australian artistic gymnast who competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. She was the first Australian gymnast to qualify for an individual event final at the Olympics. She has toured with Cirque du Soleil performing aerial hoops. Andreea Răducan
Andreea Mădălina Răducan (; born 30September 1983) is a Romanian sports announcer, journalist, and retired gymnast. Răducan began competing in gymnastics at a young age and was training at the Romanian junior national facility by the age of 12. As one of the outstanding gymnasts of the Romanian team in the late 1990s, Răducan was known both for her difficult repertoire of skills and her dance and presentation. Yang Yun (gymnast)
Yang Yun (; born March 2, 1984) is a Chinese gymnast. She was born in Zhuzhou, Hunan. She won the bronze medal on the uneven bars at the 2000 Summer Olympics along with a fifth-place finish in the all around, where a fall off the balance beam (a five tenth deduction) cost her the gold medal, finishing less than three and a half tenths behind eventual champion Simona Amânar of Romania. She was also a member of the bronze medal winning Chinese team, but the medal was stripped by the IOC in 2010 after one of the Chinese team members was found to be underage during the competition. Esther Moya Salvador (born 31 July 1984) is a former Spanish gymnast. She was notably strong on two events: the floor exercise and vault. She participated in two world championships and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her best event was vault. Svetlana Khorkina
Svetlana Vasilyevna Khorkina (; born 19 January 1979) is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. She competed in three Summer Olympics: 1996 Summer Olympics, 2000 Summer Olympics, and 2004 Summer Olympics. During her career, Khorkina won seven Olympic medals and twenty World Championship medals.
