Guy Rachet
Guy Rachet (born December 27, 1930, in Narbonne) is a French egyptologist historian, archaeologist, novelist and president of the Cercle Ernest Renan. Rachet is the author of numerous works on ancient civilizations in general and Egyptian civilization in particular. Life At the age of 18 Rachet enlisted in the army after his father's suicide. Upon his return, and being stripped of his inheritance due to family disputes, he began to work at whatever he could find until he got a job at the U.S. embassy in Paris. In the early 1960s, Rachet, who had no formal qualifications, used the knowledge he had acquired over 20 years to approach a number of archaeological luminaries such as Abbé Breuil, and even to direct the archaeological excavations at the Gallo-Roman villa of La Pépinière2 near Villiers-le-Duc (Côte-d'Or). Abbé Breuil
Henri Édouard Prosper Breuil (28 February 1877 – 14 August 1961), often referred to as Abbé Breuil (), was a French Catholic priest, archaeologist, anthropologist, ethnologist and geologist. He studied cave art in the Somme and Dordogne valleys as well as in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, China with Teilhard de Chardin, Ethiopia, British Somali Coast Protectorate, and especially southern Africa. Life Breuil was born at Mortain, Manche, France, and was the son of Albert Breuil, magistrate, and Lucie Morio De L'Isle. He received his education at the Seminary of St. Sulpice and the Sorbonne and was ordained in 1900, and was also given permission to pursue his research interests. He was devoutly religious. André Parrot
André Charles Ulrich Parrot (15 February 1901 – 24 August 1980) was a French archaeologist specializing in the ancient Near East. He led excavations in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria, and is best known for his work at Mari, Syria, where he led important excavations from 1933 to 1975. Biography Parrot was born in 1901 in Désandans in the French Departments of France, department of Doubs. He was appointed chief curator of the National Museums in 1946, and became director of the Louvre from 1958 to 1962. He was a Commander of the Legion of Honour and a member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres. He married his second wife Marie-Louise Girod in 1960, and died in Paris in 1980. One of his students at the École du Louvre was Denise Cocquerillat. When he was mobilised in 1940, he was replaced as a teacher at the École du Louvre by Marguerite Rutten. Ernest Renan
Joseph Ernest Renan (; ; 27 February 18232 October 1892) was a French Orientalist and Semitic scholar, writing on Semitic languages and civilizations, historian of religion, philologist, philosopher, biblical scholar, and critic. He wrote works on the origins of early Christianity, and espoused popular political theories especially concerning nationalism, national identity, and the alleged superiority of White people over other human "races". Hannah Arendt remarks that he was “probably the first to oppose the Semitic and Aryan races as a decisive division of human genres.” Renan is among the first scholars to advance the debunked Khazar theory, which held that Ashkenazi Jews were descendants of the Khazars, Turkic peoples who had adopted the Jewish religion and allegedly migrated to central and eastern Europe following the collapse of their khanate.
