Guran
Guran is a character from the comic strip ''The Phantom''. Guran is the best friend of the main character, Phantom. Character synopsis According to Lee Falk's novel '' The Story of the Phantom: The Ghost Who Walks'', Guran is ten years older than Kit Walker (a.k.a. The Phantom). The two grew up together in the deep woods of Bangalla, where Guran taught the Phantom the ways of the Bandar tribe. Guran was the Phantom's best man when he married his girlfriend since boyhood, Diana Palmer. Guran followed Kit to Clarksdale, Mississippi, where Kit studied while living with his aunt and uncle, Bessie and Sid, leaving him to become the first of the shy, isolated Bandar pigmies to learn how to read and write. He also brought Kit the message about Kit's dying father, the 20th Phantom, causing the 20-year-old college student to leave America to return to the Skull Cave, Bangalla, where he took up the mantle of the Phantom. Known for his characteristic clothing, he is usually seen wearin ...

Guran (Kurdish Name)
Goran (also Gûran) () is a Kurdish name commonly used for males in the geographical region of Kurdistan and by Kurdish people worldwide. The name is also sometimes a surname. Goran is not to be confused with the Kurdish word, ''Gorran'', which means c''hange'' and is also the name of a Kurdish political faction in Iraq. Origin and Meaning In Kurdish, ''Gorani'' may refer to the Gorani language spoken by several millions of ethnic Kurds, or the geographical subregions of Hewraman and Garmian situated in the southeastern part of Kurdistan. In this context, the name ''Goran'' means ''someone who is of the Gorani-speakers or Gorani regions''. The origins of the name are unclear but some scholars believe the name originates from the Avestan word ''gairi'' meaning mountain, and in modern Kurdish language, "Goran" also means highlander or mountaineer. The name has the same meaning in Slavic languages. In Kurdish, ''gorani'' also means music. First name *Goran Kamil, a well ...

Guran (Kurdish Tribe)
Guran (or Goran; ) is a Kurdish tribe in Kermanshah province, Iran. One of their main historical centers is Dartang, a region whose capital is at Rijab, at the western end of the gorge where the Alwand River enters into the Zohab plain. The other one is Darneh, located east of Dalahu in the Zimkan valley. Name In both Gurani and Kurdish, the usual pronunciation is ''Gūrān''. An earlier form, ''Gōrān'', is preserved in the Turkish version of the name, ''Göran''. Ultimately, Vladimir Minorsky reconstructed the original tribal name as ''*Gāubārakān'', related to the word ''gāubāra'' meaning "ox rider" or "bull rider". This name then through a series of regular sound changes: ''*Gāubārakān'' > ''Gāurakān'' > ''*Gōrakān'' > ''Gōrān'' > ''Gūrān''. A separate word pronounced ''Gūrān'' also exists; it refer to the social class of peasants. This word has a completely different origin and is derived from the word '' gabrān'', referring to Zoroastrians. A ...
