Gulf of Finland Naval Command ( fi, Suomenlahden meripuolustusalue, sv, Finska vikens marinkommando) was a Finnish Navy unit headquartered in Upinniemi, Kirkkonummi. The main duty of the Gulf of Finland Naval Command during normal condition was the surveillance of Finnish territorial waters and maintaining territorial integrity. In addition, the Command trained conscripts to fulfill duties in the war-time organisation of the Finnish Defence Forces. Kirkkonummi
Kirkkonummi (; sv, Kyrkslätt, , Sweden ) is a municipality of inhabitants () in southern Finland. The literal meaning of the words "''Kirkkonummi''" and "''Kyrkslätt''" in English is "church heath". Pansio Class Minelayer
The ''Pansio''-class minelayers are a three-strong class of mine warfare vessels used by the Finnish Navy, built between 1991 and 1992. The vessels can also be used for transport or to supply the naval forts. The vessels can carry a 100-ton load. The ships are referred to as "mine ferries" in the Finnish Navy. Porkkala
Porkkalanniemi ( sv, Porkala udd) is a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland, located at Kirkkonummi (Kyrkslätt) in Southern Finland. The peninsula had great strategic value, as coastal artillery based there would be able to shoot more than halfway across the Gulf of Finland. Isosaari ( sv, Mjölö) is an island in Helsinki, part of the Ulkosaaret district of the city, more specifically of Itäsaaret, i.e. ‘eastern islands’. Kiisla Class Patrol Boat
The ''Kiisla'' class was a Finnish class of two patrol boats later converted to anti-submarine warfare vessels. The ships were built in 1984 and 1988 at the Hollming shipyard in Rauma, Finland for the Finnish Coast Guard. They were transferred to the Finnish Navy in 2004.
