Gulf of ‘Agig or Khalig ‘Agig, also spelled ʿAqīq or Akik, is a body of water on the coastline of Sudan on the Red Sea. It has been designated as a protected Ramsar site since 2009. The Red Sea is a sea inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia. Its connection to the ocean is in the south, through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden. The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of Ramsar site, Ramsar sites (wetlands).
