Guiting Power
Guiting Power is a village and civil parish in the Cotswolds, in Gloucestershire, England. The population of the parish at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 296. Guiting Power stands on the slopes of a small valley formed by a tributary of the River Windrush, mid-way between Cheltenham and Stow-on-the-Wold, and lies to the north of the parish church, which is located at Ordnance Survey grid reference SP 096246. History Excavations have revealed Iron Age activity and a Roman figurine. There was a late Anglo-Saxons, Anglo-Saxon settlement on the site of the present village, when it was called ''Gyting Broc'', and archaeological research has shown that there has been a settlement on this land since about 780 or even earlier. Finds include a small Saxon sarcophagus and the remains of an early Saxo-Norman chapel. The village was at the heart of a manor owned by Edward the Confessor, King Edward the Confessor, but it had declined by the time of the Domesday Book of 1086. ... Temple Guiting
Temple Guiting is a village and civil parish in the Cotswolds, in Gloucestershire, England. The civil parish includes the smaller settlements of Barton, Farmcote, Ford and Kineton. In 2011 the parish had a population of 463. The place was recorded as plain Guiting (in the form ''Getinge'') in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was held by Roger de Lacy. In the middle of the 12th century Roger's son Gilbert de Lacy gave land here to the Knights Templar, who founded the Temple Guiting Preceptory. The place then became known as Temple Guiting after the Knights Templar. St Mary's Church dates back to the 12th century and was restored in 1884. It is a Grade I listed building. The church is part of the Benefice of the Seven Churches which also includes Guiting Power, Cutsdean, Farmcote Farmcote is a hamlet in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, England. Mount Guiting-Guiting or G2 is the highest mountain in the province of Romblon, located in Sibuyan Island, in the Philippines, with an elevation of above sea level. Its steep slopes and jagged peak, have earned it the reputation, as one of the most difficult and technically most challenging mountain to climb in the Philippines. Ranked 11th-most prominent mountain in Philippines, and 71st-highest peak of an island in the world. Located at the heart of Sibuyan and dominates the landscape for miles around. Guiting-Guiting, in the Romblomanon dialect means ''"jagged"''. It is one of the focal points of Sibuyan's declaration as a biodiversity haven and has been dubbed by some local and international natural scientists as ''The Galapagos of Asia.'' The island of Sibuyan has been compared numerous times with the biodiversity endemism rate of the Galapagos islands in Ecuador.
