''Guilty as Charged!'' is the only studio album released by the American heavy metal band Culprit through Shrapnel Records in 1983. Critical reception Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album a glowing review, writing "one has to wonder if the then still Dungeons & Dragons-toting Queensrÿche didn't take note of Culprit's more lucid approach further down the road, since ''Guilty as Charged'' feels in many ways like a rough draft of '' Operation: Mindcrime''. All conjecture aside, and even more unusual as compared to their average labelmates' guitar-first philosophy, Culprit songs like 'Steel to Blood,' 'Ambush,' and 'Same to You' boasted extremely memorable, singalong choruses to go with their disciplined instrumental foundations. As it stands, ''Guilty as Charged'' remains a lost gem of American metal from the 1980s, and well worth seeking out for fans of other bands from the period." Culprit is an American heavy metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1981 by vocalist Jeff L'Heureux, guitarists John DeVol and Kjartan Kristoffersen, bassist Scott Earl, and drummer Bud Burrill. Their debut album '' Guilty as Charged'' was first released through Shrapnel Records in 1983 and later again through Hellion Records in 2000. The band broke up in 1985 and each of its members moved on to other endeavors. History Formation (1981–1985) and ''Guilty as Charged'' Culprit was the result of a merger between two Seattle area bands named Orpheus and Amethyst in 1981. "Stone Cold Crazy" is a song written and performed by British rock band Queen for their 1974 album ''Sheer Heart Attack''. The song is the eighth track on the album. A culprit, under English law properly the prisoner at the bar, is one accused of a crime. The term is used, generally, of one guilty of an offence. In origin the word is a combination of two Anglo-French legal words, culpable: guilty, and prit or prest: Old French: ready. The Automatt
The Automatt was a sound recording studio in San Francisco, California, promoted for its early mix automation system. During its eight active years, 1976 to 1984, it was one of the top recording studios in the region. The Automatt was founded by producer David Rubinson and opened in an existing studio subleased from Columbia Records, who continued to record in the same building for a few years; thus it was sometimes referred to as CBS/Automatt. Rubinson leased the whole building in 1978 and from that point, operated three rooms for recording and mixing, a mastering room, a rehearsal room, and offices.
