''Growers of Mushroom'' is the debut studio album by English hard rock band Leaf Hound, (originally released by Telefunken as ''Leaf Hound'' in Germany only in 1970) and re-released the following year in the U.K. by Decca as ''Growers of Mushroom'' in 1971 . Leaf Hound is an English hard rock band formed in 1969. The band is often cited as pioneers of heavy metal, hard rock, psychedelic rock and stoner rock. The release of their 1971 debut album '' Growers of Mushrooms'' is said to be a mixture of heavy metal, hard rock, psychedelic rock and stoner rock and influenced those genres. Biography Formed in 1969 under their original name, Black Cat Bones. Early incarnations of the Black Cat Bones featured guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke who both left to form Free. Black Cat Bones issued one album for Decca Records entitled ''Barbed Wire Sandwich''. They replaced their vocalist shortly after releasing the album, adding Peter French to the line-up. Guitarist Rod Price departed soon after to join Foghat and French added his cousin Mick Halls on guitar. Keith George Young joined on drums. A leaf ( : leaves) is any of the principal appendages of a vascular plant stem, usually borne laterally aboveground and specialized for photosynthesis. See For Miles Records
See for Miles Records (SFM) was a British record label which was one of the first British re-issue specialists predating the emergence of compact discs. See for Miles reissued most of the records of many labels including Dandelion Records on CD in the 1990s. The name hints both to its co-owner Colin Miles and The Who's " I Can See for Miles". Miles worked for his SFM partner Mark Rye at EMI on their re-issue programme, and they reunited after Miles had established the label upon leaving EMI. The company went into administration and in 2007 the label rights were sold to Phoenix Music International. Rye then went on to form Pucka Records, GVC Records and the RockHistory.co.uk project as well as continuing the Magpie Direct mail order company that he had created whilst at See For Miles. Madeline Bell (born July 23, 1942) is an American soul singer, who became famous as a performer in the UK during the 1960s and 1970s with pop group Blue Mink, having arrived from America in the gospel show '' Black Nativity'' in 1962, with the vocal group Bradford Singers. Career Bell was born in Newark, New Jersey, United States. She worked as a session singer, most notably backing Dusty Springfield, and she can be found on early Donna Summer material as well. Her first major solo hit was a cover version of Dee Dee Warwick's single " I'm Gonna Make You Love Me", which performed better on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 than the original.
